Buying an Uzi B over an HK94 because it was $100 cheaper ($600 vs $700 in 1988) and the store had no extra HK mags.

I've had to walk away from all kinds of deals on great stuff, guns, cars, etc.

What is doubly painful is grabbing up a great deal on something you really want to keep, and then having to sell it later when one of life's unexpected issues crops up. Really ruins a fellow's day.

Not gun related, but 12 years ago I found an all original 69 Dart Swinger 340 4 speed sitting in a junk yard sales lot.  The car was pretty rust free, and had all it's original parts except the air cleaner.  They wanted $2500 and my dad thought that was too much.  I had the money but being 13 my parents wouldn't let me use it. I dream about that car all the time, I even have all it's information written down in case I ever find it.

$7,000 welder at a pawn shop for $750 bucks. Brand new. Went back the next day and it was gone already

Probably impounded by the police.

I almost pulled the trigger in 96 on an XM193 purchase.  The price had dipped there for a couple months and I nearly got 5K rounds for under 1000 delivered.  Then I thought "This is stupid, I don't need this much ammo!", so now I buy what I can where I can and hate it.

It was 1983 and I just had received my drivers license after turning 16...

1970 Dodge Challenger R/T with a 440/4bbl/auto.  Guy wanted $2500 but would have taken $2200.

It's probably better I didn't get it, I'd of either wrecked it, or have gotten so many tickets it would have screwed me for years.

Lets see, It could be the 70 Superbird for $1500.00 or the 70 Challenger R/T for $1500.00. Naw, the winner is the 70 BOSS 429 for $200.00, and this was in either 88 or 89.

I'm still kicking myself in the ass for not buying the HK SP89 I was offered 2 years ago for $700. I had the cash but could not really spare it. Still regret not buying it to this day.

Had a guy at my gun club that was going through a nasty divorce.  Was a former bullseye shooter and had a bunch of guns.

He had 2 Clark Long slide .45acp's, 2 S&W model 52's and a S&W model 41.   Wanted me to spot him $1500.00 bucks for a year and If he didn't come for them in a year, they were mine.  He even drew up a contract on his computer spelling out everything in the agreement.  If he picked them up within the year, I could keep the 41 as interest.  I didn't feel comfortable with the deal as I felt his divorce and the loss of his business was because of nose candy.  He was busted 6 mos. later for sale of coke.

Cops took the guns........

In 2006 I had a buddy who was going through a divorce that offered me a transferrable Colt M16A1 in near perfect condition for $7500 then I found out later that he sold his M2HB for $20,000 instead. If I was offered either today I would jump on it but at the time I was scared of the NFA process or something...

During the tech boom I was trading options pretty heavily. Had a strong hunch one company (forget which one, maybe cabletron?) was going to get bought out in short order. Bought 40K worth of calls expiring 2 months out. Originally wanted the ones 3 months out but decided to go more leveraged with the shorter term calls. 2.5 months later the company didn't get bought out but it spun off its different business units and stock went from 20-60. I doubled my money but if I had gotten the 3 month calls, I would have had $2-3M, could have bought a lot of guns with that.
