Actually the line was, "Charlie don't surf"

Wrong scene.
"Charlie don't get no R&R, he's dug in too deep or moving too fast.......", comes right after the Playboy Bunnies dancing scene.

mark, america is in it's last days, we have over spent our treasury, we have bankrupted our society and values, and sexualized and perverted our children with violence and pornography.

the few of us that had a good upbringing and have morals left are a dying breed. in a few generation we will have been marginalized to the extent and extinction of the DO-DO  bird.

as soon as you realize this the world becomes quite simple and explained, theres a lot more to it and would fill a large book, but sufice it to say, america has run it's course like the hundreds of nations and peoples from before the USA.

and while I love my country and served in the military and now law enforcement, it's all to clear, there are no stand up fights to be had, with an enemy that is invisible and jelly like in it's spine.

it's a societal shift, it is VERY SAD, but there are no fights to be had at this time.

we can all swing our sword in rage at the wind, but the foe before us is ourselves.

Truth.

ALL civilisations rise and fall.

We simply have the misfortune of living in a time of decline.

Well said. Sad, but true.

Oddly enough, my slightly crazy liberal sister is the person who get's worked up the most about this that I personally know. Despite voting for Gore and Kerry she cannot fathom why, with a war on, there isn't a draft, GM hasn't been ordered to crank out tanks and APCs as fast as possible, war bonds, the whole 9 yards. She get's really worked up about it.

I would go for war bonds if it bought more Mine resistant vehicles, or F-22s, medical research and stuff. But I think the "window" for a lot of that passed in September 2001. But we were told to just go live our lives. *shrug*

it will take devastating attacks on the mainland US, and it will take a leader who knows how to use propaganda.  It will probably be a Democrat, because they excel at propaganda, and they have the backing of the MSM.

Or, it will never happen, and we will go into permanent decline.

Our country is operating this war with a sense of condescending arrogance. What I mean is that we are convinced that the Islamics cannot really hurt us.  We are toying with them.

Can you imagine any American being sanctioned in 1943 for posting a derogatory picture of Nazi paraphernalia?

I am with dport on this. In 1945, the US had more than a thousand ships in the Navy. We had 18 aricraft carriers and 8 battleships. We had 82 army combat divisions and 6 Marine divisions deployed outside the US. We had 22 Air divisions in combat. The GWOT is a VERY different kind of war.

I am still waiting for you to answer dport's question about WHY we would want a military of that size in this war.

"Charlie don't get no R&R ..."

That's the line that popped into my head as I walked through my local H.E.B. here recently.

It's impossible to tell America is at war to the casual observer.  No war bonds, no rationing, no nothing.

We need to amp it up to support the Americans that are over there doin' our gun-totin' for us.

What's it gonna take?

LaRue

You ask what is it going to take?

I fear that it will take what OBL says, which is over 2 million + Crusaders (I take this to mean Americans) dead, with at least 600,000 of them children to "avenge" the dead Iraqi children dead because of "the boycotts and sanctions against the Muslim Iraqi people in the 1990's."

I posted this in another thread.

It's ridiculous to say we're not sacrificing for the war. We're financing the damn war with IOUs to China.

So my rapidly inflating dollars, the funds I will pay into and never see a dime from and my future skyrocketing taxes are my sacrifice.

+ APRIL 15th.  Don't forget to pay the black mail.

CLOSE THE BORDERS !  This should have been done on Sept. 12th, 2001.

How about a head count on all the illegal aliens in the country ?

Some of us feel the .GOV is being disingenuous when it is claimed that "We're fighting them terrorists over there so we don't have to fight them here", while permitting ten of millions of illegal aliens (mainly from Mexico) to overrun and infect our communities, schools, and hospitals with their crime, corruption, Communism, and diseases.

We already sacrifice more than half of our income in the form of taxes.  How much more does the .GOV really need ?
