God has revealed Himself to us through the Bible.
Thus, if one wants to know who He is, what His standards are, and how He expects us to live, one should look to the Bible. Many people attempt to create God in their own image. The come up with characteristics they are comfortable with, then proclaim, "I think God is like this..." If everybody got to make their own god think of how many there would be. And which one would be the Real One? They couldn't all be authentic. Instead of speculating about what God may be like, in His Word (the Bible) He says, "This is who I am." I can't think of a better source.
