I despise drunk drivers and I would attempt to get a plate number and call the cops.
I normally don't have much use for the police, but this is one situation that they need to get off the streets!

I have called 911 let them know I'm off duty heading down so and so road with my flashers following plate # so and so who appears to either be having a diabetic attack or drunk can you send someone fast. No pity on drunks. They can call a cab like I do. If the cop wants to let them park it and call a ride or cab I don't care. I'm not trying to ruin someone's life over a bad decision but many circumstances make the whole event play out the way it does.

Well, my wife did call. The police had us give his liscense plate, and location, and met us, just as we were entering a small town. The cop lit up his lights and we pulled Over so he could get to the person. We were able to safely follow the pursuit..Amazingly, the person drove probably a mile with the cop behind him with obnoxious lighs flashing at night. We are just sitting here debating our descision. I've done it before and I'd do it again. The last time it happened the driver blew a .26 BAC and his passenger was already passed out and taken to the ER with acute alcohol poisoning. The vehicle they were driving??? Me to dispatcher - "Do you know what a Honey Wagon is?" Dispatcher - "(Gasp), caller reports vehicle is a Honey Wagon, southbound on Lynn Lane near 41st St going about 60 mph headed straight into the city limits..." ETA: Yeah, they got him stopped with a rolling roadblock before he got too far into town. Then, the shit woulda really hit the fan! View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

OP .....
I would MYOB and call the police. When you are on the road, what others do around you IS YOUR BUSINESS !!!!! Let's say you see a red Chevy Impala on Main Street driving as you described. You DO NOT call the police and the next day you read on the news ........ MANY DRIVING RED IMPALA ON MAIN STREET DIES OF HEART ATTACK WHILE DRIVING THE CAR !!!!!!! OR ---------- WOMAN KIDNAPPED BY MAN LAST SEEN DRIVING RED IMPALA TOWARDS MAIN STREET . |

Victimless crime till someone dies or is hurt.
As per some on here. |

I have personally declared dozens of innocent people dead from fuck head drunk drivers killing them, including many kids. I've been on the hose line and put burning children out from the fiery DUI crash. DUI apologists can go fuck themselves. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

My favorite is "That accident would have happened either way, why does it matter if he is drinking" Remember that drunk that ran over the guys kid(s) in Texas? And how the father killed him? Wonder what some would say if DUI was legal, and the guy was stopped by the cops just prior.. |

I would call and have before.
Just because someone doesn't care about their own life doesn't mean they have the right to take someone else with them. |
|
|
I'd call. They can find their own PC for the stop though.
If it's obvious enough for me to call, they should have no problem observing a violation. |
|
|
|
Of course
If they can't control their vehicle due to impairment, they don't belong on the road where they can endanger other travellers |

Hate me all you want. I've seen it before and have not called, it was a question and I gave an answer. I'm no neighborhood watch, I'll leave it at that |

Pull up along side and put some bullets into the engine block.

Absolutely call the cops. I would, why did someone say no? Hate me all you want. I've seen it before and have not called, it was a question and I gave an answer. I'm no neighborhood watch, I'll leave it at that I didn't think you'd double down, but sure as shit, there it is. You're right... you're not the neighborhood watch (for the sake of argument). The 'neighborhood watch' is out there, but how are they supposed to know unless you call them? Maybe you'll be out driving someday. Maybe there'll be some asshole swerving all over the road. Maybe you won't be traveling the same direction they are. Maybe they'll be cross or opposing traffic. Maybe there will be somebody out there that did see them, but it'll be another 'fuck it, it is not my problem' guy. Who knows? |
|
|
Immediately after the second swerve. One could just be an"oh shit, I dropped a burning cigarette on the seat". Two... yep, drunk as a Lord.
ETA - provided I had my cell phone, which I most likely do not. |
|
For the most part we've all drank too much before. That said, I've never driven in the state that I was all over the road as described. I've probably never even been drunk enough to drive all over the road as described.
Fuck 'em. If you wanna get wasted do it at home. If you have to drive, don't drink to excess. Really easy. Also, there is a difference between .08 and .2. |

Not sure about your situation but I did call KCPD once about a dude who was passed out at a red light at 3am. I sat in the Hardee's parking lot and watched the cops show up too. They quietly opened the passenger door, took the keys out the ignition, and then woke the guy up. When dude came to, he was obviously startled, which led to a furtive move, which led to the cops pulling him out of the car and slamming him down to the pavement in a very violent manner. My only regret was not videotaping it for Youtube.

I guess the question is, why would you NOT call the cops? Unless you plan to run the f'er off the road yourself how could you possibly ignore that drunk/high asshole? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I see so many drunk drivers on our roads on a Friday or Saturday night that I would have to have a speed dial button for the cops. The local paper ran an article about a rookie cop that had racked up 100 drunk driving arrests. If I remember correctly, she had a couple of years on the force. |

Yep, I have in the past and would do so again. Zero fucks towards a drunk driver.

Absolutely yes.
I've called 911 for stupid fuckers like that and would do it again. Followed them too, at a safe distance. Whether they're drunk or having an episode of some sort, they're a danger to others if they aren't able to stay in their lane. This is if they're clearly messed up. No way I'd call 911 over some driver who wandered a bit over the shoulder line. Like so many things, it comes down to what is seen at the scene. |

having pulled dead and mangled folks from their vehicles who were the victims of drunk drivers - I vote yes.
