I have seen Yugo SKSs and I must say: not too shabby. I wanna get one. And yes, I love my AR-15. Really.
Other than yet another SMLE or a decent, hi-quality handgun (Kimber 1911 of some kind, I think), a Yugo SKS is about all I feel like getting right now. I have just about enough guns. For now. Buddy, just look in the phone book under Masonic Lodges and call a local lodge and express your interest. They will help you from there. Good luck!

Well your friend's SKS was either modified to take 30 round mags or it was one of the very rare late model production SKSs designed to take detachable mags. Either way your point about "your friend" is moot since the vast majority of SKS (99%+) are of the fixed internal box mag type and are uber-reliable.
