Actually, the best fast food hamburgers are in NE and IA are from a small chain called RUNZA.  Damn good burgers made from fresh hamburger...never frozen.

You all have NO taste in burgers...for chain burgers Krystal wins hands down. In the south they known how to do fast and greasy. I make it a pt to 'raid' the local Krystal when I visit my dad and in-laws. Nothing beats 5 Krystal cheese, extra mustard, extra pickel and hot frys.

For regional its gotta be the Golden Bull in Las Curses, NM. If youre ever that way you should make it a point to stop by.

THE best burger to be had is at Lardos Grill & Saloon in McCall ID.

Rallys is good and so is White Castle. White Castles' jalepenjo cheese burgers are the shiz! Too bad they gas me up so badly.

No...not even close....Krystal wins easily....Ive had both. A little bit off topic but I sure wished Krystal would bring back the waffles they used to have...the ones made while you wait. Words cant begin to describe how good they were w/ greasy eggs and frys.

I have never been able to understand why people make such a big deal about Runza. It's terrible. They're tiny, dry, they'd have no taste if it weren't for being drowned in pepper, and they're expensive - even if they were edible, they'd still be too damn expensive.

Feel free to believe that if it makes you happy   - doesn't change the fact that Krystals are just White Castle knockoffs.

Although to be fair, both have been around for a long time now, and both are great.  But to suggest that Krystal "wins" is crazy talk.

Well.  #1 for me is....

EAT N' PARK.  Their "Superburger", but add mustard and ketchup and tomato.  It is like a Big Mac... but made with better ingredients... served up with some fries, and a BUNCH of pickle slices... OH MY... I gotta go now.

#2 would be STEAK N' SHAKE.  Double with Cheese & then add: mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, pickles, & thousand island dressing.

man... I am hungry.

Culvers gets my not on the poll vote. I lived in Chicago, but had to go to Wisconsin as part of my sales territory. A Culvers butter burger, fried cheese curds and frozen custard. It should come with a referral to a good cardiologist.

My personal experience:

Upper midwest states = Culver's (excellent)

West and midwest states = Carl's Jr. and Hardees (very good)

Southern states = Whataburger (very good)

Midwest = Steak 'n Shake (good and cheap)
