From my wife--"You're better than nothing at all." <---Nicest thing a woman ever said to me, so I managed to get her to feel sorry enough for me to marry me.
From anyone else--"I know your word is good."
My (probably unattainable) goal in life is something silly I saw in a movie many years ago--a man was accused of a murder he didn't commit. The circumstantial evidence was just overwhelming and everyone just "knew" he was guilty. One man, who knew him well, upon setting out to prove his innocence, commented, "I know he didn't do it!" Another guy chuckled and said, "How do you "know" that??"--in a sneering fashion. First guy--"Because he SAID he didn't do it!" If a few people will have that perception of me when I die, then I can die knowing I attained my life's goal. Material things pale in comparison to having one's integrity unblemished.
