The parents have to talk to the kid. There is no getting around that. The only people that can help him either deal with it or get over it or overcome it are not there for this kid. If the kid wants to be gay or straight and just can't help himself or whatever, he needs his parents. IF they were to just ignore this then he will just wander off into a bath house or something and become a little slut or something. My neighbors had the same thing happen and next thing that knew their son was sucking cock for drug money, all because they ignored the problem, then finally cast him out. Gay or straight, that is no way to treat you own son.

Gay or straight, the kid needs his Mom and Dad. They do not need to support his choice so much as they just need to be parents. This sort of ignoring the problem is the same reason Daddy's little girl becomes a strung out pole dancer, or the momma's boy becomes a crackhead.

If my son turns out to be a fag, he is still my son. HE will know that I don't condone it, like it, support it, but I will still be his Dad and if he needs me, I will be there.

Ignoring the problem is the worst thing that can happen.

Right I suck because I think its wrong to be gay. I never said anything about locking him up, or killing himself. When did this site and the country as a whole as a matter of fact become so complacent and non chalante. Just because I'm a christain man and do not believe in homosexuality, and feel as though his life style is wrong makes me a bad person. I think I even said more than once that if thats the way he wants to be let him. I would be concerned that a child of mine was addicted viewing pornography, whether it was gay or hetero. You must encourage the parents to talk with the kid about this. Push hard that they talk with him, They must understand there isn't anything they can do about it. They can either accept their son as he is or chastise him and make him an outcast risking him committing suicide.

Yekimak seems to have the best response in the thread. I'm not particularly religious (especially compared to you guys), I know havin a gay son would freak me out a bit, but he would still be my son, and I'd have to support/help/love him.

The parent's are going to have to talk to him. Or, if that's too much, find somebody else who he can talk to, without fear, so he can work things out in his own head. Funnily enough I'm guessing that school Counsellor or whatever would not be such a good plan.

Just because he looks at gay pron does NOT necessarily mean he is gay. There is new psychological evidence out there that some people can be attracted to sexual situations or porn and NOT wish to actually engage in them. Are women who watch lesbian porn actually all lesbians? If you watch a lot of violent movies will you then be a violent person?

I agree that he needs to be talked to and/or counseled. BUT I don't think any of us can say with 100% certainty that he is gay just because of this.

Probably because they are letting their fear of the issue render them helpless. It is real easy when confronted with something like this to just throw up your hands and say nothing.

Pretending nothing is happening is just silly. It is a natural reaction to a tough situation, but in the end it is just going to make all of them more miserable than dealing with the problem now.

Leaving him without guidance at a vulnerable time is a sure way to mess him up real good.

I don't know. Pornography itself has an addictive quality to it, regardless of the genders of the people on the screen. But it certainly sounds like the kid might be exploring feelings he has through pornography.

Yes the father AND the mother should deal with this ASAP. Their child isn't going to get better by himself. It never ceases to amaze me when I see parents refuse to deal with something like this, reasoning that this immature teenager who is so confused they don't even know which end is up will somehow figure out the right thing and everything will be just fine.

It is dellusional thinking born out of fear of action. Screwed up kids will not spontaneously un-screw themselves. They are in trouble and they NEED their parents help.

I remember what i was like at 16...I looked at porn a lot when I was 16. My parents found out abd they weren't cool with it. And they didn't even have the religious component to it...the kids gonna want to see porn no matter what, and he's going to pursue it with the zeal of a junkie chasing the dragon. I think they should limit his porn viewing so that it doesn't become an addiction (and so he doesn't get goo on anything that's not his). It'll be uncomfortable as hell for all concerned, especially because of the gay thing, but they outghta work out a deal with him.
