Well, CMJohnson, I can't cover all of them, but I'll cover one:

"No searches of any kind, for any reason, without signed and witnessed authorization by the subject of the search, or a court order issued in OPEN court. Absolutely no "no knock" raids allowed, period."

Then you would rewrite the US Constitution?  Amendment 4 says (in part) "no (search) warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation..."

What you call no-knock raids are actually the result of fully legal search warrants issued by courts.  Now, you may have problems with weather the courts are doing a good job of issuing the warrants, but they are constitutional.

I've served plenty of them and put some truly horrible people in jail as a result.  I don't like the bad examples we know about where mistakes were made, but these are the exception and rare.  Those making them should be held fully responsible.

You should go on a few rides with policemen before criticizing them.  The vast majority are fine people doing a hard and thankless job.

A reasonable position.   But, there have been enough abuses of 'no knock' raids (including the occasional raid on the WRONG LOCATION!!) that I believe that this particular police power should be under tighter restriction.

I would absolutely support ANY measure that puts the rare but problematic "jackbooted government thug" on a short leash and forcibly prohibits him from committing the types of infringements on the citizen's rights that gave him a bad name.

"We can't be so focused on the rights of individual citizens."---William Jefferson Clinton

THAT is the voice of evil.  Or socialism.  Same thing, different face.

In MY opinion, a "no knock raid" IS an infringement of the fourth amendment because I consider it to be unreasonable.

Note that I am NOT opposed to raids by forced entry.  I'm not even THAT much against the pure concept of a surprise raid, if executed properly, but there have been MORE than enough screwups that they need to be brought under control.

This is particularly true given the highly abusive tactics that have been used by raiders in situations that have sometimes been well publicized.

Yes, you can and probably will say that these tactics are necessary to ensure the safety of the raid participants, and I say,  NO, THEY"RE NOT.  Not in every case, anyway.

The fact is that there are a few really aggressive, pushy cops running around who won't hesitate to use excessive force in the form of a raid, or other means.  They get their jollies by doing it. Anything that puts them on a short leash (or better yet, in the unemployment line) is a good thing.

I was thinking going back to the old west style. Everyone have a pistol, unconsealed or consealed doesn't matter. No more of these pointless lawsuits against gun companines, or criminals tring to sue the people they were tring to rob then got hurt. But I don't think we need to get rid of LEOs, just some of the BS laws people put in the books, that they try to enforce.
