Man on Fire. Its not an all out war type movie but my girlfriend absolutely loves it, my mom actually likes it too. I like it more than both of them combined.
maybe they just have a thing for Denzel.

'Defcon Four', if you can find it. Grade B sci fi, but the guy w/ the armoured front end loader to defeat the Mad Max teenagers is hilarious.
