Both my dogs died years ago, but I had two Great Danes.

(What would you expect from a guy who calls himself "shaggy"?)

They were both harlequins, and when/if I ever get another dog it'll definitely be another Dane, though not necessarily a harlequin (from what I understand, they have a somewhat shorter lifespan).  Great dogs though - here's pics of one of them...Zoe.

Not surprising to to see several Chow and Chow mixed dogs with this crowd.
Years ago, the first thing I remember reading about the breed, I read the "Chow is a dog with intense loyalty that if necessary will die for you but will not heel."
Truer words have seldom been written.
I have three - a blue, a cinnamon and a black.
Two years ago I had to put my 14.5 year-old blue male down.  Broke my hard-assed heart.

After two weeks I went out and got my present blue male and his sister (black).  My cinnamon female is 13 yrs. old and eats like a horse.

Sorry but no picture capability.

She knows what beagles taste like.

Ding dong owner of a beagle pup
walked up to her, held the pup
just over her head and said
"See... it's alright."

Too bad for the cats though... many APBT's can climb trees. I have seen a video of one American Pit Bull Terrier that could climb a telephone pole... that blew me away!

fattyM4,
Depends on what you want/expect out of the dog.
Both are wonderful breeds, and I spent about a
year trying to make the same decision. Both are
big, beautiful and always draw attention. The
Malamutes are 30-40 pounds bigger as adults.
The Huskies have a bigger selection in color
of coats and eyes. For me, the deciding factor
was temperment. I wanted the more child
friendly of the two. Both have awesome
temperments, but the Malamutes are a
more "protective" breed and are more likely
to "fend off" any trespassers. The Huskies are
more "socially accepting" and are although
they will alert you of a stragers presence,
they won't do much about it (except bark).
Since I have three other dogs, I wanted "a
lover, not a fighter". The dogs let me know
when something's up, and that's where "dad" and
the 2nd Ammendment come into play. I spoke to
a lot of owners and breeders, and decided that
a Husky was what I wanted. I will try to post
pics of Lobo and the rest of the dog
pound. If Beagles will post them for me I will send them to him (he'll like my beagle Zoe)

One of my Rotts - this one is VonBlazin's Ace in the Hole - affectionately known as "Rommel"

A pic from a couple months ago at 6 months - he's now 9mo and just a hair under 90lbs.

And "Enzo" - Rottie/Blue Tick Hound mix at about 1 year.
