I just watched the first ten minutes of that.  They've got LRRP guys talking at full volume on a mission facing each other eating chow BSing on a five man team.  It looks like some high school kids are making it... beyond the "found footage" feel.

I have actually been wanting to see it for a long time (I'm a Vietnam movie fan) does it get any better?

ETA Now they have the PRC playing AFN on a speaker.

Is FMJ really a Vietnam war movie though?

One could ask the same question about Apocalypse Now too.

This is the answer, and Apoc now is my favorite.  The beauty of that genre is that nobody really knows what happened over there. Nothing pictured in either are beyond the realm of possibility.

Apocalypse Now
Platoon, Hamburger Hill, FMJ can't decide which I like better between those 3

ETA: Thanks to this thread I popped in my blu Ray of platoon.
ETA 2: my only issue with Platoon is that most of the guys have carbines which isn't accurate correct me if I'm wrong.

Nothing imagined in the human mind is beyond the realm of possibility on any subject, but for Vietnam there are plenty who know what really happened over there.

Guys anybody help me out Here?  Film identity

I remember s really good vietnaam film. Pretty sure it's a vietnaam film

Starts on a ship before deployed all the guys are lined up and the lt or somebody asks something like one in 5 to step forward.

He then says that's how many will be going home juried or in bags.

Any ideas?

Only if it has the original period music, not that canned crap used on the dvds and in syndication. It really does make a difference.

I mispoke, I simply meant that it was something that could've occurred. I'm sure tons of crazy shit happened there that isn't widely known.

We Were Soldiers. It is probably the ONLY time Hollywood came close to getting a movie about Vietnam right.

Most of the others are filled with a bunch of stereotypical crap portraying our troops as a bunch of drug addicted psychos that are intent on raping and murdering the indigenous population. Fuck that noise. The average guy that went over there wasn't some sort of murderous freak or a drug addict. The typical soldier went over there, did his year, tried to stay alive and did his best to do his duty and serve his country honorably.
