I had a child with a girl in high school. Her name was Zoey Elizabeth. I had to quit school to support my daughter and her mother. I moved us into a house at 18 and was doing pretty good under the circumstances. One day we decided to explore the area we had just moved to and went for a car ride. It really was a beautiful day and we had been out for a few hours. My then fiancee decided she would drive us home after we had stopped for lunch. About half way back to the house she ran off the road a bit. We were traveling about 60/65 in a 55 zone. The drop off for the road to the dirt was higher than normal so when she corrected to come back on the road we got side ways in a front wheel drive car. She was inexperienced and over corrected and after about three good fish tails we went off into the woods. The baby was in a car seat however it was her side that we hit on and the Ford Escort we were in just collapsed on her. I was in the back with her with no seatbelt on. I got pretty fucked up but nothing life threatening. She would have been 10 on May the 6th.

I couldn't even imagine posting after reading that.  Sorry for you.. Mine is 9 and she is the center of the universe...

Wow...

I've had a hard life.  I sure wish there was a pill somewhere that made things simpler!

In chronological order:

Being arrested at 17 for being a run away [I ran away when I was 15 and lived on my own for 2 years] breaking out of the juvenal home and coming to Oregon was very difficult on me.

Being married to an abusive man for 11 years.

Losing my Grandmother [I can only now mention her name with out tears!]

Being a single Mom

3 Miscarriages [my last was my most difficult].

Breast Cancer [twice].

Being Alone during my treatments.

Poverty.

But hey, no use dwelling on negative.  Funny thing is College, Work having kids were all relatively easy in comparison.

The death of my two children. I should have a 25 year old daughter and a 23 year old son. My x-wife had problems carrying and we lost them both. One during childbirth and one only hours afterward.

Long in the past, and I don't talk about it anymore.

Thanks to all those who shared...I cant come up with words that could comfort some of you because words wont do that.....all I can say is thanks for sharing..you are truly some very strong peopleto go through these things. I hope to share this thread with the person that inspired me to start it....perhaps they can gain some perspective from all your experiences. I cant thank you enough for sharing what are obviously some very personal issues.

Ive had a very privledged life for the most part, reading this thread makes me realise how much God has blessed me.

I have had to deal with some crap though,

Growing up with a bi-polar mother and a father who didnt know the proper way to cope with it.

Finding faith in God and having my parents reject me because they didnt understand it, they are slowly starting to come around.

Trying to live for God living on a secular university, sometimes I overcome temptation, sometimes I fail.

I have really lived quite a blessed life though, things arent perfect, but I couldnt really complain.

The Police Academy is a blast.  One of the greatest times of my life was the 15 weeks I spent at the Academy!

I will just say that during the darkest time of my life I always had a funny feeling in between my shoulder blades. Later I realized that feeling was God holding me up by the back of my shirt.

The worst is yet to come, I'm sure.  It is something to look forward to, at least.

Mrsstinger's battle with breast cancer...at age 24.

The mastectomy...the chemotherapy...the radiation treatments...the damage done to her self-esteem and self-image...

Out of all of those, the last one has been the hardest to deal with...it's been an ongoing battle for her for just over 12 years now, but she's hardly ever complained or cried about it...seeing her struggle with that burden every day is the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with...

But she's remained cancer-free since then and we now have two WONDERFUL children...a 10y.o. daughter and a 3y.o. son.

Thanks for 13 1/2 terrific years, with hopefully many more to come, Cristina...YOU are my inspiration EVERY DAY!

32 days and counting...
