If's it's just a 340, and it's doing <10 in the quarter, I'm guessing nitrous... Was I right?

Nothing Personal, but even with nitrous I would have to see it to believe it.

Gutted body, 4 link suspension, open headers, big-ass slicks I'll give you low 10's at around 120-130 mph with a well built motor

My friends were seriously considering paying a helicopter pilot to drop them of in the soccer field.  [:o)]

Myself, I will drive my stylin' 92' Geo Metro.  3 Cylinder.  0-60 in 16 seconds![:D]

Or maybe my dad will let me drive his 1985 Suzuki Intruder 750 (not a car but it would be cool).

girls and boys, if that SOB is getting 9's in the 1/4, then it has either got to be on nitrous, supercharged, or have a lope that would flatten tires at idle and run on avgas.

i paid for everything from my and my wifes prom, except the limo.

we took a limo to hers that the girls parents chipped into get (the rightly assumed alcohol would be involved).  to my prom we took a '95 cadillac sts

but ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh how i tried and tried to find somebody with a rig i could take, you know, nothing special, just a conventional peterbilt with a sleeper [naughty] much like in my avatar

The year 1979...

The car: 1966 Chevelle SS396

The specs: 427/435 HP long block, w/11:1's, ZL-1 camshaft and valve train, Turbo 400 tranny w/Cheetah valve body, B&M 3000 Holeshot converter, 12bolt w/4:11 gears and clutch pack posi, Lakewood ladder bars, Mcreary L6015's on Cragar's from Hi-Gear.

Time slip: 13.60 @108

Ahh, remember SUNOCO 210 for .77 a gallon.

And no I was not a rich kid.  My father died when I was 12, left me some money and an indulgent mother.  And a neighbor who ran ProStock.

Now I'm a MOPAR man and that Challenger ain't going 9's.  I got a buddy from when I was LEO that has a 69 RR w/ a HEMI crate motor, gutted, 8 point, DANA spool w/4:88 and a torqueflite and 4500 stall that only goes high 11's.

Oh, the girl.  She's now my ex-wife, been happily divorced for 17 years.  Have'nt seen or spoken to her in 13 years. And yes I'm still bitter. She left me for an unemployed speedball junkie, who burlarized homes to support his habit, all the things i could never aspire to be.

I gotta ask, as these things are NOT cheap, who paid for that truck?

I imagine this is the reason you started the thread about who bought teenagers cars? Anyway, my response is there.

At my first prom this year I drove a 2003 Chevrolet Impala. Very nice car, next year My Brother in Law has already promised his 66' Mustang Coupe. It has a 289 Hypo built on a 302 block in it. Color is dark blue, w/ white racing stripes down the hood across the roof, and down the trunk. A very sharp looking car.

Borrowed my bosses Divco milk truck. Wasn't too bad, though. Managed to get MOST of the sour milk odor out of it with a fire hose and get it dried out pretty good the day before.

BTW, a month ago, I went back to my hometown and ran into my prom date. She remembered the truck vividly and told me she tells the story often.

I am going to answer this with:
-Junior Year -- Small Lincoln Limmo
-Senior Year -- Longest Lincoln Limmo Ever

Both Proms COMPLETELY bought and paid for by me and my friends.

And a great memory:

That's right, 2 dates.  That sure was expensive...but worth it.  Had just gotten over an evil chick to, really needed it...

It wasn't mine, and this isn't a picture of it, but I did go to her senior prom on a '75 T140 Bonneville. Blue/Black, peashooters, crap brakes, crap tires. Fun, though.

in a just washed and waxed family Caprice.

Considering your location, Limo's are common. Parents justify paying for limo's because they come with a designated driver.  Be sure to meet the driver, the driver may not be a good influence.

500$ for a dress seems excessive.

By the way, I once dressed up and played chauffeur for a friend who was taking a date to a college formal party. I opened the doors and drove his clean but beat up Datsun.  they sat in the back.  She was an ass because she was not amused.

First one - 93 Honda Accord - Stock
Second one - 2001 Ford Expedition

Its ok, cuz I was dressed like a pimp anyway. Or Puff Daddy. I had a black/white tux with green silk accents, a black and white cane, and a black fedora with a white band and a HUGE dark green ostrich feather in the band. I was the MAN! I wish i was a senior again . . .
