Quoted: Ridiculous.
It is not technology that has hosed us but cost of living, most of it in ridiculous and unnecessary forms.

What do you call cable TV, microwave ovens, air conditioning, electric toothbrushes and power windows on your car? What about 2,500 square foot homes for a family of three? (My father in law raised his 3 kids in a house that's about 1,500 square feet. He was raised with his 6 brothers and sisters in a house that was <1,000 square feet.)
I call them unnecessary.
I think we are on the same wavelength here.
Furthermore even IF a high school grad did forsake ALL those modern things he still couldn't afford a house (which they could in the 1950s) and probably couldn't afford to raise and provide for a family, or even a child.

Where do you get this at? I worked with a high school grad a couple years ago. He was making $9/hr. He was buying his second house. The first one, he lived in half and rented out the other. He was buying his new house to live in. The old house was going to be fully rented out.
It can be done. Of course, like I said, he had to do without a lot of modern conveniences.
