The movie left out the capsules and substituted a landing boat that carried many troopers. The movie left out powered armor entirely. Novel >>> Movie, even though the movie had Dina topless. |

I love the movie - it is the equivalent of a WW2 propaganda film, but told from the Nazi point of view. Verhoven says as much in his commentary track.
The "Mormon settlers" were the expeditionary force sent to the bug planet. The attack on Buenos Aires is the equivalent of the fire at the Reichstag - a staged attack for Earth to justify the invasion and send more troops, complete with realtime rolling death counts on TV. The whole idea of the bugs attacking Earth by firing asteroids is completely staged, because we are clearly shown that the bug planet is light years away from Earth. Are these super luminal asteroids the bugs are launching from the surface of their planet?
