My name is Jake.  I am a 26 yo physician.  I recently started my residency in General Surgery.  I have enjoyed shooting for a long time, having learned when I was about 5.  I have enjoyed shooting trap, 4 position smallbore, and hi-power in the past.  My current passion is varmint hunting.  I live in Kansas, and enjoy hunting pheasant, quail, dove, and deer.

I first discovered AR15.com when it existed as the email list.  I enjoyed reading that a lot.  I came back to the site about a year and a half ago and was a 'lurker' in the forums for a long time.  About Febrary of this year, I signed up, and frequent the board often.  I have learned a lot about the AR-15 from the folks here and have enjoyed the political/ethical discussions in the GD forum as well.

My best friend and hunting partner lives 150 miles away.  Most of the people I work with don't have the knowledge/interest in firearms that I do.  This site gives me the opportunity to share my interest with others who enjoy it as well.

My name is Bill, I'm 32 and married with one one the way.  I'm an ex Army tanker, M60's and M1's, since then I've been into things that fly.
ACTIVE member of the NRA and GOA.  I am happy to be here, to communicate with folks who know infinitly more then me. I feel I am amongst friends, because you CARE about preserving our heritage and our only too ailiable rights.  I bring enthusiasm and ironic humor, but little in the way of specialised knowledge. My real name is Dan Chambliss.  I am recently
unemployed from the restaurant business. I would
like to find a new career NOT restaurant related.  Staffing and getting older have made my choices for me. I got married for the second time a year ago. I live in the east
Houston (Baytown) area and have
been shooting all of my life. I
have always had an interest in
firearms and when waterfowl
hunting got too expensive and
I did not really have the time
for it, (see restaurant business)
my interest shifted to pistols and
military rifles. I bought my first
AR type rifle around 1990 and it
has grown from there.  I was
playing at the local library one
day before I got my own computer
and was looking for info on how
to put a lower together and
found this site.

Not a Sr. Member yet, I read more than I post.
Been coming hear since I found this site at work in 1998. Became a member in 99 when I finally bought a computer.
This site has been a revelation to me.
Everything I know about the AR15 I've learned here. I have followed many of our fellow members adventures and exploits with glee.
I've seen the good, bad and ugly in all of us and that's what makes this place special for me.
We're all making our way through this life the best we can.
I've made some friends here and hope to meet more.(Still trying to get you a gig LT)

You guys are the best.

Oh! I trade bonds for a living...love to shoot and fish, NRA Lifer, a pretty damn good cook, and married for 18 years to a great lady.

I remember answering this topic on the old board, so I will make it brief this time.

I am a former U.S. Astronaut, had to drop out of the program due to a knee injury following my last space walk. I wrote popular songs for a while, you may remember my most successful efforts, "Feelings" and "Wind beneath my wings".
I am a 9th degree practitioner of Yubi Waza, the oriental defense philosophy.
I presently work part time at a pork rendering plant.
I have always enjoyed quality firearms, I own a Smith&Wesson Sigma 380, a HiPoint 9mm carbine, several Hesse AR 15s, and a complete Lorcin handgun collection, including the rare 15 shot 25acp model.

I enjoy the interaction and common bond we all share here on the board.

I am Tyler… I hate the name Eric (my real name), so please call me Tyler. Hmm... I have been coming here (well, the old AR15) since the start of 1998. I am an MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer). I like Computers, Home Audio/Video, Dogs (American Pit Bull Terrier!), Knives, all types of Firearms, and most of all Women (Girlz, Womenz, Females – you get the picture). I write poetry and other stuff when I have the time.

I am a 37 year old Dep. Sheriff, 2 kids 1 wife  of 15 years. I read lots more than I post, guess I'll be a "member" for a long time. I started out lurking on sniper country and didn't like the cold reception that the regulars gave some members. so I came over. I bring more on handguns than AR's. thay's why I'm here, and I should add that most have been helpful and insightful to my questions, thanks.

I grew up in Mass. joined the Army and went to AL, Germany, LA, and Honduras. I got married and have a daughter. I've held several jobs.

Warehouse Worker, Commercial Cleaner, Soldier, Pizza Driver, Lumberyard Worker, Truck Loader, VA Police Officer, Corrections Officer, Security Guard, and Deputy Shriff.

I went to college part time until I got a degree. I also got divorced.

I shot as a kid with a neighbor kid that had guns, and my parents didn't object, and remember walking around town with long guns waving to the local PD officers who waved back and kept going...... imagine that today?

I shot pistols and real rifles for the first time in the Army along with machine guns. I never liked either. My M16A1 experience was that the rifle were beat up junk, and we know about M-60's....

I got an M4gery after a co-worker got a 16" OLY carbine. The quality was much better than the military stuff. Another co-worker told me about AR-15.com when I started gettinf interested in the weapons, and I bought my M4gery from the equipment exchange section here...

I'm here because I like the different views that others have here, even if I don't agree, it is sometimes eye opening. I believe in RKBA. I also like the weapons information that is available here.

After college, I spent 7 years in the army, either in the Cavalry (1/7 Cav., 2/11 ACR) or as an instructor at Ft. Knox, where I was a gunnery instructor at the gunnery skills branch. After I became a PFC (proud *uckin' civilian) I worked for the VA for about 2 years. Became a deputy sheriff, and am now a sergeant with 18 years of experience. I am an armorer, (Beretta, Glock, Colt M16A2/AR15) firearms instructor, rangemaster.
I came to this site to gain knowledge, impart some knowledge hopefully, and to also let members know that all LEO's are not psychopathic assholes who want to take away thier rights and firearms. I have owned up to 5 AR's at one time, I am now down to 2 and a FAL. I am currently on light duty due to a broken back (crushed L2 vert.)
I am 46, been married almost 13 years, have a step daughter about to start college (that is where a lot of the previous guns went)

Its nice to learn about the people who visit here.

I'm Matt, and I came to this site after searching for a cheap AR after shooting a buddies. Found the LEGP(which I'm STILL waiting for[:(]) and bought almost right away.
I'm a sophomore in College in PA, studying government and computer science.
I've always been kind of a rebel, and as my senior year in high school came, things came to a head. Before that I mostly kept to myself, and hated communists, was pro-Union, and staunchly pro-American and always been interested in guns and the military, but my parents didn't have any. Then I really started becoming interested in politics and liberty. My one teacher(and this was the day after Columbine happened, mind you) said don't let them take your guns. That(and many other things she-yes she- said) really opened my eyes. So I started reading book, articles and everything I could on guns, the Constitution, the Founders, and Liberty. Joined the NRA, the SAF, and the GOA. Didn't have any guns until last November when I got the urge after reading Unintended Conseqences, where I ran out and bought a 10/22. Mom and Dad went nuts, but I convinced them to let me keep it(they already were aware of my staunchly pro-gun stance). That's my live story btw [:)]

I bring to the board my staunchly anti-statist, pro-liberty, pro-confederacy, rebellious ideas. Tend to point out in any question asking "is this legal?" about guns that it is and telling them to read the 2nd amendment. Big fan of Imbrog|io, since we're both lonely and w/o women, and staunchly anti-government.

Greg. 33. Railroad switchman. Former aircraft assembly mechanic for Boring. Former WANG M60A3 armor crewman.

I'm here because outside of my family, my one real passion in my life is the Colt AR15. My wife thinks I'm nuts for owning so many of them. People collect all kinds of different things (you should see how devoted some railfans are to their hobby), AR15s and their accessories are just what I am into. It's something that just can't be explained. I was pretty ambivilent about the Hydra-Matic M16A1 I was first issued but absolutely fell in love with the Colt M16A2 I was later issued. I have since even developed an appreciation for the earlier M16s/AR15s and will one day acquire an original SP-1. Should I ever be fortunate enough to move to a state the permits ownership of full autos, an M16 WILL be my first purchase.

I have picked up quite a bit of info here about the AR15 in general and a lot of the nuances of the Colts in particular. Hopefully I have helped fellow members with the information I have dispensed regarding the AR15. I also pick up quite a bit of news that I wouldn't otherwise as it doesn't make the mainstream media and like the various outlooks on events from fellow members.

I'm the resident Swede (haven't seen anyone else claiming to be from Sweden, but there is I'll readily step down.) I'm 26 going on 27.
Did my mandatory service in the navy, later signed on for a tour in Bosnia. If any of you guys happened to be in the US army crossing the Sava river I was one of the poor sods standing on the other side waiting for you.

Came to the US in '97 to learn gunsmithing, after which I worked in Phoenix for a year. I'm currently back in school for a Bachelor's
degree from Old Dominion University. I intend to stay in the US, hopefully going back to the rifle manufacturer I worked for in PHX.

I bought a Bushmaster 16" Shorty about two weeks ago, mostly because it was one toy I never got around to play with before.

What do I bring to this place? I guess I've added to some frustration for some of you guys. If nothing else I've tried to point out reasons for why you don't have to fear the UN as much as some of you appear to.

What I gain from this place is an abundance of knowledge about different manufacturers of parts (I'm never going to buy anything from American Spirit Arms.)

All in all - a good place to hang out at!

My name is Chris.  I am a 19 year old college student in central Missouri.  I came here just after I bought my AR and haven't been able to leave.  I enjoy this site because you can say something about a firearm and no one says "HUH?"

I AM AR15.COM. (Just as soon as I have the money freed up to pay the membership fee[:D])

My name's Chris.  I'm a 21 year old college student at Auburn University (Auburn, AL) studying Computer Engineering...3 years down, 2 to go.

I'm a jack of all trades, but master of none: musician, fighter, shoot wrestler, and just plain "shooter"!  I'm just now getting into the genre of NRA Service Rifle, and I'm definately liking it so far...glad there are a few people along the way to help me.

My job here at AR15.com is 25% productivity and 75% amusement.  When I'm not cutting up or just bullsh*tting in general, I'm usually on the Comp. boards or teaching some new AR15.com guy a few basics (considering I'm still a novice myself).  Bought my first AR15 - my first FIREARM for that matter - about 6 months ago, and have been on the boards for about 8.

When I'm not sitting on the computer typing code, I'm either on here ranting and raving with the guys, working out, appeasing my taste for violence with a little Counter-Strike, or out working in my college radio station (shameless plus - http://wegl.auburn.edu).

I've found myself absorbing an incredible amount of knowledge from this site in the past 8 months.  I've also met some great guys, good debate people, and general smartasses like myself [;D].  This is one of the cleanest, most well-run, and informative sites on the 'Net...and it doesn't cost us a cent.  I've given up on waiting to pay for my membership, because quite frankly the Avilas deserve a little piece of my contribution for the overwhelming horn'a'plenty that has been bestowed on us all.

Sometimes I'm informative, occassionally insightful, often humorous, and temporarily Eee-vil, but in short:

I am the NRA
I am AR15.com
I am The Jew!

Ok.. I am STILL CONFUSED.   Do you mean that if I do not pay for membership (to help offset the huge costs of operating this site), that the electricity will be turned off to my home?  Does this apply to Kalifornia residents only?

I thought everything on the internet was supposed to be free !   What kind of extortion is this anyway?

I kinda feel that $60 is too high.  If you'd lower the price to $58 per year and bill me weekly, I think that I could convince my accountant that the expenditure would be worthwhile.

Oh --  one last question:
Do you accept food stamps?

I'm 28, married for a little over a year to the mother of my 8year old daughter(BIG SOAP OPERA, happy ending[:)]). I used to wanna be a musician for a living, but I grew tired of being hungry. Now I'm a bartender and a waiter, and dammit, I love my job!
I don't know what I contribute to this board, but what I have gained is immeasurable!
There are about 20 guns in my collection, including 2 ARs, and someday I'll quit buying them. Really. I can stop anytime.

I work for McUZI Enterprises as a janitor.

While not slaving for McUZI, I perform computer forensic analysis and security consulting for law enforcement agencies.   I am also the managing director of the largest technological crime certification body in the US.

In addition, I also own a web development and hosting company.

I'm 35 and have married to my lovely wife, a Molecular Geneticist turned school teacher, for 5 wonderful years.  We are hoping to have a child this year or at least buy another goldfish for our fish tank.

I'm also an EMT and Technical/Heavy Rescue Specialist in the wonderful state of confusion and have been for 17 years. (the people's republic of New Joyzee) I was a member of a volunteer rescue squad for many years until I sustained a severe back injury (2 herniated discs with subsequent failed surgery) while operating a Hurst tool ("jaws of life") with an idiot 105lb. woman partner who dropped her end while we were cutting a door off a car.

Yes..  I am bitter toward evil feminazi women who try to force their way into every facet of life regardless of their ability to perform adequately... [BD]

And...  I love guns and the South !

I'm 22, single, and live in the Portland, OR area where I work as a software engineer for the worlds largest chip maker.  I just graduated with a degree in computer engineering from Portland State.

I don't yet reload or compete yet, but maybe someday.  For now, I just shoot for fun, but not as often as I would like and my targets confirm this sad truth.

I found AR15.com when I became interested in buying an ar15.  ar15.com helped me to understand all I needed to get just what I wanted for my 1st AR (20" Bushmaster), and now I will have my 2nd AR as soon as the 3rd batch of LEGPs ship.

I continue to visit this web site because of the info and discussion, whether it be about firearms technicalities, legalities, or politics. Not to mention the humor in the General Discussion.

Sounds like we might have enough people in the Portland area to have some kind of get-together....

One is my Bushmaster (which WILL accompany me into the grave), the other is an EAA Witness 9mm. I come here to "hang out" with like-minded folks. Here, I can gain some good info on just about anything. By the way, I live in the "Fabulous Metropolitan Spartanburg" area if any of you folks live nearby. I am also a supporter of the COPS (when exactly did they become LEO's?).          edited for awful typing ability

i don't consider myself senior anything. i am relatively new here, but have read everything since the old site. job constraints and lack of home pc has kept me from participating until recently.

i have learned so much here, not only about AR's but about politics, history, life. i prefer to take a bit of all knowledge and cram it together to form my opinions. i consider life a learning experience which never ends.

i love to debate and argue, i love to take the unpopular side of an argument, just to keep it going, even if i don't fully support it, or if it gives people the wrong impression of me. the devil's advocate plays an important role in a forum where most people agree on most things.

i can only hope that occasionally i can make at least some people smile, or teach some of my limited experiences to others. sometimes i reply to posts as a smart a$$, sometimes in a serious manner - at any rate, i am addicted to AR15.com, and i am here to stay!

BTT.

Thirty and have been for awhile. Born and raised in WA, currently reside within those borders. Divorced from a gal who shoots ARs, currently engaged to a gal who shoots ARs, and my 4 kids shoot ARs.

'86-'92 did the Infantry thing with Big Green, got out and worked at OlyArms for several years. I don't recommend that course for any but the most masochistic.

Went back to screwl and studied land surveying. I didn't study well enuf apparently cuz I'm a chainman on a survey crew.

Still beating on the most "challenged" ARs I can find just to stay in practice and part timing at Valkyrie Arms (ALL HAIL) so I don't forget what a lathe looks like.

Graduate of LFI's, DTI's, Delta Group's, Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission's, Washington State Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor Association's and Chuck Taylor's rifle classes. Sniper school, anti armor warfare, MOUT, marksmanship instructor, small arms specialist and unit small arms repairman while in service. Didn't pass Sniper School at Ft. Benning tho.

Extensive library of AR related material and a couple (how many can you use at once?) of prebans in the safe.

Currently moderator of the "new" troubleshooting board and still learning my way around the new page. Been here since the elden days, lost track during all my moves tho. Also am the moderator of the wa-shooters list out of yahoogroups. Where local shooters hook up to go shooting. Did have a photopoint page full of example pics for the AR but it looks like it's gone now. I'll have to transfer them to this site I guess.
