I learned at 14 not to trust teachers and admin, and especially not coaches. They will permanently fuck up a child for trinkets and glory. Its not just teen boys you need to worry about, dads. There's 4 people forcing that trash directly and then an entire administration aware of it and supporting it. Think about that

Not a week went by growing up that I didn't bleed, was bruised, or stuff sprained. No opiates, no lawsuits My dad was driving me home with a black eye and asked me if I'm ever going to start blocking with my hands instead of my face.

All other thoughts aside that seems like stupid thing to do to your athletes. You can't force limberness and forcing someone's body to stretch beyond their limits can easily result in torn muscles, ligaments... Etc.
