FWIW, next month's Playboy is going to have the 20Q section with Kate Beckinsale, IIRC.

If you believe in the human soul, I think the director, Len Wiseman must have sold his soul to make the original film.
How do I figure this? Here is a guy, whose only Hollywood credits are as a props assistant for Independence Day (1996) and Stargate (1994). Somehow, he gets over $20 million to make a movie, gets a $20 million distribution deal from Sony, marries the lead actress, Kate Beckinsale, and gets a deal to make a sequel. I thought stuff like that only happens IN the movies. |

Woooohoooooooo 3 days left until Underworld 2: Evolution.
Werewolves Vampires Hot Chick in Leather A lot of guns What else do you want? |
...can I have a hot chick in leather using guns to kill werewolves or vampires please? Oh wait, that's exactly what we're getting. |
I'll be checking it out this weekend more than likely. Liked the first one enough to justify seeing this one.
I'm hoping for non suckage(movie wise). She is smoking smoking hot. Definately will see this one.
+1-Kate rocks |
I will definately be seeing it the opening weekend. No Expert |

Sony pictures isn't going to get a chance to install a rootkit in my brain
I was hoping someone would revive this thread.
I really want to see this. I also don't want to piss away 15 bucks. Decisions, decisions..... |
You won't feel a thing. CONFORM! |
Go. See it. You know you want to. |
Amen. Kate Beckinsale is a prettygood reason to watch a movie anyhow... |
Saw it tonight. Not as good as the first one, but not bad either.
Kate gets naked. Very naked. |
Saw it tonight. Official response, "Meh."
First one was better. The first one had better character development. -Steve |
No shit? Hells ya. Otherwise, no spoilers!!!! I can't see it till Tuesday at the earliest, due to work... |
Saw it last night. If you liked the first one, IMO you will NOT be disappointed. I wasn't.
btw, more Kate with the shotgun: (posted as a link because the pic is 1600x1200) |
Excuse me. I gotta go. Something just came up. |
My assesment too. I did like learning more of the backstory, and it looks like they kept it open for a trilogy. And great G36 gun porn. |
I saw it Saturday and I thought it was pretty good. Maybe not as good as the first one, but still pretty good. Definately leaves room for a 3rd.
It was boring.
I never thought lots of explosions, automatic gunfire and a really hot chick would ever be boring. My wife liked it, though. |

Just got back from the theater.... FUCKING AWESOME!!!
I can't wait for it to come out on DVD to watch both back to back. It seemed to almost pick up right where the last one left off. There were a couple things that I was a little confused by though. 1.) What country were they in? I don't know if I missed it somewhere in there but I thought in the first one they were in the US or some other English speaking country. In this one it seemed like they were in Russia or some other former Soviet bloc country. But when they return to present day it seemed like they were picking up right where the last one left off. 2.) During the first fight with Marcus, Michael asks Selene if Marcus is a hybrid and I thought she answers yes. How is this? He's the son of the first vampire, right? Unless his father, Alexander Covinus, made it with the first werewolf, which would have made the first a woman. But there wasn't much mention of their mother... And why wouldn't that also make William a hybrid? 3.) Not so much confusion but what seems like an inconsistency to me. The scene where the police are shooting at Michael in the woods, she does some lightning fast moving. At the end of the first one when Michael is fighting Victor he also moves super-fast. But thwne they fight lycans and vampires they never move that fast... why not? 4.) Someone said she's nude in this one. I saw no tit though. A little disappointing, but she is prettynaked and totally frickin hot. There are a few shots where her skin-tight leather (or is it latex or something) that are just so hot. 5.) This one seemed to have a lot more gore... mainly during th fighting and especially in the "finishing moves". I loved seeing Kraven get his head knocked off. That was sweet. The effects in this one were also top-nothc. I think these movies have the best werewolf effects since American Werewolf in London... better in a lot of ways but that's almost blasphemy. 6.) I don't know why I didn't notice this in the first one, but Selene's eye colors changes from black to bright blue. I don't know why... I assume they're like "mood eyes". 7.) So? Is she preggers? 8.) Wasn't there three vampires in the "tomb" at vampire headquarters? Or was the third the female that they killed in the first one? |
As far as where they are... the commentary on the first DVD says that their in some east european city-- Budapest I think.
The vampires' eyes turn blue when they're going into vamp mode.
pathfinder74, some answers:
POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOLLOW 1) they're in Hungary (Budapest), I had to read the book (from the first movie) to find that out. 2) Markus is a hybrid in this movie....as for how he got that way, watch the first Underworld again, that's basically the ending of the movie so I'm not spoiling that. Has nothing to do with his parents. 5) bigger budget for this one, so more FX. 6) Selene's eyes turn blue when she gets pissed, happens to the other vampires too. 7) There were 3 crypts for the 3 elders....Viktor (from the first movie and seen briefly in this one), Amelia (killed in the first movie) and Markus. |
Based on all your posts I went out to Circuit City and bought: Underworld - 2 disc set with additional Underworld: Evolution DVD preview. $10.69 out the door (It was marked 14.99 ) |
So, let me get this straight... just by drinking, or being "recharged" with Lycan blood (and because he is the first decendent of Corvinus, that turns him into a hybrid? I'm not buying into that... seemed like for Michael to become hybrid he had to be just going through the quickening of a Lycan and then also be turned into a vampire... not be a Lycan for 300+ years. That's kinda flakey... Does that also explain his being the only vampire able to sprout wings? |
I saw it. I liked it. I probably won't buy it when it comes out on DVD though.
Yes...the Lycan blood is how they're saying Markus became a hybrid. I don't think time is a factor, remember they're (supposedly) immortal. There's a lot more to the first Underworld story in the book that they couldn't fit into the movie. |
Seems to me they would all be jumping at the chance to bite on a lycan so they could amp up their power and kick serious ass. I didn't think it was that simple. I thought the whole point of the first one was that only a decendent of Corvinus could change into a hybrid. |
You are correct. Not just anyone can do it -- Selene explains in the first movie that the combination of bites from both species would be fatal to an ordinary human. Corvinus is Markus's father. |
sorry about the multiple posts, I was having some problems w/my internet connection and I think my mouse went full-auto on me :)
I heard or read somewhere that the sons of Corvinus were bitten by a bat and by a wolf, and took on their powers.
God help them if a mosquito got to them... |
As to #3, the possiblity of this could be due to the fact that vampires/lycans fighting humans would be faster in that humans would/could not move as fast and therefore the speed is noticed. As to when Vampires fight lycans, I would assume since they are both fast, it would look like normal speed to them. Just my take, could be wrong. |
Or a spider... Dr Frige would have a field day with spidermen. Underworld 3: A team goes back in time and takes DNA samples of the sons of Corvinus, and clones them in present day. They send them out to get bitten by animals to adopt their powers. They bring back the bitten clone and isolate the genes responsible for the powers... and eventually develop the formula for the super soldier. |
Now that you mention it they had a storyline thing scrolling at the beginning of the movie before anything actually started happening. I remember it talking about that but I forget exactly what it said... maybe I need to see it again.
Remember the fght between Michael and Viktor? Michael was moving wicked fast... |

Yeah, but the guys limbs kept blocking the view. |
I finally saw it this weekend. I was kind of disappointed. The action was pretty good, but I didn't think the story developed as well. Maybe I need to watch them back to back when the DVD comes out.
