The real reason is the societies of people who run the handful of conglomerates that own every media outlet and bank in the world know that if the two GOP 'perceived' frontrunners are Romney and Paul, then people will start taking Ron Paul seriously and looking into his message and realize that he is the real deal and his message is legit. Instead, on Jan 4th on ARFCOM we see a 10 page thread called something So what can you tell me about this Santorum derp derp.
