Nope, a buddy of mine has a side folding Galil on his CCW! Carries it loaded on the front seat.

I'm sorry, but ON his CCW? You have some sort of list of the weapons you personally plan to carry concealed? We are allowed to carry any weapon legal in the state with a CWP but you don't enumerate what you plan to carry. Auto knives, handguns, or even gaget guns if properly papered. Do you have to go through any big process to change carry rigs if that is the case? Planerench out.

In Mich, CCW is for pistols only. Therefore if you have anything registered as a pistol you can carry it. There is no list of what pistols you have "on your CCW" it is just any registered pistol.
A couple other things about MI. MI is a shall issue CCW state. If you have a CCW, you do not need to get a permit to purchase. If you don't have a CCW, you have to go to your local PD and get the permit. They are not supposed to charge for them, they do not require fingerprints and generally you can get more than one at a time. It takes about 5 minutes. Permits are good for 10 days and then you have 10 more days to bring the pistol back for registration, what they call "safety inspection". One doesn't have to submit cartridge shells like some states, or are limited in the number of pistols one can buy in a month. There is no waiting period and as a result of the permit system, the Brady Bill doesn't apply in Mich.
This permit system has been around for many, many decades and was streamlined and fees taken away the last few years. In a sense it is a good idea to make it easier to get a permit to purchase. It encourages people to register their handguns and folding stock rifles and shotguns. That seems like BS but it has kept any legislation banning so called assault weapons from being passed.
Of course one of the problems of registering handguns is that those registered guns show up on the "enhanced 911" system. If you make a 911 call to the police or they are called to your address for any reason, the dispatcher can look and see if you have any registered pistols on the premisis. Interestingly, you can have a hundred rifles, shotguns etc, that won't show up on 911 but one pistol will.
