A modern German sedan would have held up much better.  I'm now reevaluating my desire for  a crew cab Chevy truck.

Given the nature of the accident it is a miracle he survived, and inherent safety of the vehicle he was in had nothing to do with it. When a tractor trailer gets into it with a four wheeler the four wheeler loses, every single time. I don't care if the four wheeler is an uparmored HMMWV  fifty tons of force is going to devastate it, this guy got into it with two tractor trailers.

On the other hand he can call one of those ambulance chaser lawyers on TV and he has two commercial vehicle insurance policies to milk.

I agree it is a miracle he survived.

I only wonder what would have happened if he was in the new Ford truck with the aluminum body and frame.

Wow! Glad he made it. Where's the rest of his truck? I don't see anything mechanical or the wheels.

You two do realize that that accident was part of a 70 car pile up. He probably didn't get between two semis intentionally.

You better do some looking at some car vs 18 wheeler crash pictures than.  A BMW,  Mercedes or anything else isn't going to save your ass in a mess like that.

There just isn't any way 2 tons will hold up to being hit by an 18 wheeler loaded or not.

I din say he caused it. It's just that drunks walk away from the worst accidents.

That's what automotive engineers refer to as efficient use of crumple zones.

That wreck kept me from visiting my mother who is ill yesterday  I've never seen an Interstate completely barricaded/closed off like that before yesterday.

Oh well, if the roads were that bad, it was probably for the best anyway.  Glad no one was killed.

FWIW, the frames on the new Fords are not aluminum.
Even though everyone seems to think so.
