I tested a few shitty loads and one good one and now snub noses suck.

One of the "shitty loads" was the one most commonly recommended and the point of the article was not that snub nose revolvers suck, but that choosing good ammo might not be as easy as with 9mm, .40 S&W, or .45 ACP. Many average Joes might think that nearly any JHP from one of the big guys would work well. That's actually pretty close to true for other pistol cartridges. There are a few notable exceptions but if a guy knew nothing about ammo and just walked into a Walmart or Sportsman's warehouse and grabbed a 25 round box of JHP from Federal, Winchester, Speer, Remington, or Hornady for his 9mm, odds are very good that he would end up with ammunition that meets the standards and performs well. Not so with the .38 spl. Even one of the best rounds available had trouble in a very narrow set of circumstances.
As mentioned in the article, though, if your ammo fails to expand, that doesn't turn it into a Nerf dart. It will still put a hitch in the bad guy's giddyup. My wife and I still carry our 638. We load it with the Buffalo Bore 158 gr +P LSWCHP.
