Quoted:
A recent thread stirred a big debate.  Seems a "Firearms Instructor" told a student that a loaf of bread would stop a bullet, especially if the bullet was a Jacketed Hollow Point.

It went through it like an ex-wife through your life savings.

Lessons Learned:

1.  Sit down boys.  I have some really big news for you.  Everything you read on the Internet isn't always true.

2.  Just because someone is a "Firearms Instructor", that doesn't mean that they aren't full of Bovine Scatology (BS).

3.  Why do people repeat silly stuiff about firearms when it is so easy to shoot stuff and see what really happens?  I just don't know.

4.  Shooting bread is fun.

(Thanks to Tman for the photo help.)

Thanks Old_Painless for clearing this up...bread is concealment, not cover.

Are you folks done with that bread? Caus I'm fresh out.....

The bread is cheap enough that I am just going to feed the leftovers to the birds.

I'm wondering if the firearm's instructor was referring to his wife's home made bread.

My ex tried making bread once.  And I am positive it was bulletproof.

I knew O.P. would not let me down. I have printed off color copies of everything to send with my friend to prove this guy is full of "Bovine Scatology " as O.P. mentioned.

Now for all of you who said I shouldn't have repeated it because of how stupid it was. What would you have laughed at that was as funny as this???

Good stuff.

How bout the "bible in the pocket stopping a bullet" story from the wars?  I can't picture you shooting a bible, tho...but I'm sure you can find a reasonable substitute.

I actually have a bible (pocket version ) from WW2. It has a metal cover on the front, inscribed " may it keep you safe from harm". I do NOT believe this will stop much more than MAYBE a sub sonic .22 LR.  Luckily it was never field tested with a bullet, since it was carried by my grandfather.

As always, your comments are both insightful and insignificant.
You sir, have apparently never been shot with a Kimber .45 at close range. You comment on things about which you have no personal experience, and just repeat what you have heard on the internet again. When I hit the ground, I was moving in excess of 88 feet per second. Our photos are never staged, we report the situation as we find them.
Regards

Tman
