Good on you, seen quite a number of nominal democrats who eventually became red pilled from learning about firearms. They get educated and grounded in the reality of firearms and aren't irrationally scared by them anymore. They then start hearing all the disinformation and lies spouted about guns in the press and by politicians. They then trust you as a source of accurate information on guns and they become open to asking your thoughts on other issues.

Not always the case and doesn't work with hardcore leftists, but there are a lot of people who have never put much thought into politics and who have just gone along with their "friends" on social media. They are persuadable and willing to learn. They can be won over, and their numbers are not inconsiderable.

The old attributed Churchill quote applies - "If you're not liberal when you're young, you have no heart. If you're not conservative when you're older, you have no brain."

Or the old saw that teenagers are sure that their parents are idiots but once they have their own family they marvel at how wise their parents have become.
