I went to Starbucks a lot when I lived in San Diego. Not so much because I like paying out the nose for coffee, but that there was one every couple of miles.
The majority of the employees, through appearance and mannerisms, had all the hallmark signs of gayness. Therefore, it is no surprise at all if a "marketing lady" at one of these establishments has the politics of a typical communist queer. not that there is anything wrong with that. <----for the mods |

Or in Northern Germany, simply "Tasskaff" |

What else would you expect from a bunch of hippies selling $5 cups of coffee to wannnabe hip soccer moms?
Next thing you know, someone will be telling me Ben and Jerry's is also run by liberal douchebags. |

Starbucks coffee prices SUCK
The way they run their company SUCKS 80% of the libtard yuppie wanna be's that frequent them SUCK The owner, Shultze or whatever his name is SUCKS That is all ....... have a friday |

Speaking of actually READING his thread, you seem to have missed the simple fact that this 'first hand account' didn't happen to either the poster or his wife. It's a 'first hand account' of something that happened to someone's wifes' co-worker. IE "my wife says that Julie said that Bertha said..." How's that for 'first hand'?? |
His wife and her coworkers were prevented from giving coffee to returning troops by upper management in Starbucks, sound first hand to me |

It's true that Starbucks policy says that "Starbucks employees can give free coffee to the troops." But this is there way of getting around the issue. Every week, Starbucks lets their employees take home a free bag of coffee or a box of tea. Starbucks says that their employees are allowed to give this free coffee away. But according to this woman at the company, she is saying that Starbucks will not officially endorse a local military outreach. That's the facts. Believe it or not. |

Where in the heck does Starbucks charge $5 for a cup of coffee?
Here's it's $1.80 for a large cup. I just bought a cup yesterday in the drive-through. Small and medium cost less. Or is that one of them internet story things that just keeps getting bigger, better, and more expensive every time it's told? |
fixed it for you. |
Thats okay, their coffee sucks ass anyways.
Seattle's Best is way better. |
I used to work at starbucks, and it seemed like I was working for the people we are fighting...if you know what I mean.
I thought about trying Starbucks coffee once but the stinch of liberal asses kept me from entering.

I've been disgusted with Starbucks since they bought out a small local chain in this area called "The Coffee Connection" that had THE BEST coffee I ever had, bar none, and shut them down after promising not to.
I am not a coffee snob, but I really really like a good dark rich cup of coffee, and most regular stuff out of the can is like thin bitter dishwater. Even if you brew it strong, it only gets more bitter, so I try to find the good stuff. Starbuck's definitely overroasts their beans which is where that burnt taste comes from. Seattle's Best is pretty good, but I think Cafe Appassionato (also out of Seattle) is better. Sometimes if you can find a little local non-chain coffee roaster, they are really good. My theory about why so many coffee companies are in Seattle is that it is so freaking rainy and dreary and depressing there that if you didn't have lots of coffee, you would committ suicide. As to the thread topic, I am not at all surprised that some little marketing twit uses their power to deny sensible PR requests. I mean, heck, if I were of the age where I were serving a tour in Iraq and Starbucks gave me coffee at the airport as I arrived home, I would definitly think about buying their coffee, so they shoot themselves in the foot by not supporting the troops. |
Why support a mega-retailer like $tarbux? There are plenty of local coffee shops with better coffee, better help and with a greater likelihood that profits will be re-invested in the local economy. Why do business with a faceless corporate giant that's probably supporting leftist polititicians because they're "MODERATES" OR progressives. As far as the troops thing goes I'm happy they've declared themselves, it gives me another good reason to boycott them. |

I'm not sure you understand the whole idea of first hand. If something happens to you, it's a first hand experience. If your wife tells you about something that happened to her, it's a second hand experience. If your wife tells you about something that happened to a co-worker of hers, it's a third hand experience. This is literally a case of 'my wife said that a friend at work said that the administration said..." Sorry man, that simply isn't first hand. It's third hand. (Or 'gripping hand' for the Nivin and Pournelle fans out there.) Otherwise, I have some great first hand experiences about the battle at wounded knee that I can share. I can even tell you about my first hand experiences making the first moon landing. |

I heard Starbucks Corporate is a front for a Sri Lankan terrorist organization. They take blackmarket diamonds and trade them for coffee beans from Juan Lopez (of Folgers). They sell the cheap coffee for a huge profit and buy guns to kill babies with.
What other businesses are lining up at the airports to give their products away free to returning troops?
Ouch. Pwn3d. |

That's not supposed to be public knowledge. And I think you mean Juan Valdez. He's alive and well living in San Pedro. Please don't mention Starbucks ties to Columbian drug cartels, the International slave trade, Robber barons, and pirates. I don't think the hoi polloi could stomach it. |

That's some funny shit! |

Starbucks own's Seattle's Best. |
I didn't want to use his real name on the internet. They'll probably spit in my latte now. |
WTF?!? Really? I guess they haven't gotten to corporate memo to add sawdust to all the coffee yet. |

must be from this: eine Tasse Kaffee. |

I'd be inclined to think it's true. Coming back from Iraq (in uniform) a couple of us stopped at a Starbuck's kiosk. One of the guys asked if there was a military discount (jokingly, this was in an airport and you know how the prices are there. Also, I have to add that this guy was a senior tech warrant officer who didn't really need it to begin with). Anyway, he got a really snotty response from the manager (the teller didn't know), something to the effect of "no we don't and you army guys don't need a discount everywhere you go". That was the last cup of coffee I got from Starbuck's. So fuck 'em. Their coffee sucks anyway. |
Never have... never will |
I don't doubt for a minute that this story and many more like it are true. I've had too many conversations with totally uniformed people who discount the military and its mission in life to believe for a second that a corporate higher-up, who was probably over-educated in liberal arts, is going to lower herself to allow a cup of coffee worth about 2 cents to be donated to a vicous mouth breathing gun toting Oklahoma born baby killer returning home from the hunt.
This stuff happens all the time and always pisses me off. |

Don't some bases have Starbucks on them? Or even some Starbucks overseas in Iragistan?
