The official picture is the prototype design just like prototype cars. Actual production models will be affected by manufacturing realities. Below is a picture of one of the first 30 hand built production suits sold only to employees.

Still with the pressurized suits... The biosuit idea seems like the better option.
Why haven't they tried a 3-piece design yet? Suit, helmet, and collar? Similar to the really old diving suits; collar for the helmet is attached to a harness that goes over your shoulders and under your arms, air supply would be in a thin backpack-type setup on the back of the harness, feeding directly into the back of the collar. Rest of the suit goes overtop of the harness, with the helmet just latching to the collar. |
