We had one on a deployment in 2012 and it was considerably smaller than a Tacoma. It was honestly much too small to be able to get out with the kit we were wearing. Granted, the doors were armored on the inside, but even then, any smaller truck we have in the U.S. would've been better under the same conditions.
Maybe they come in different sizes, but the one we had was tiny. |

Do it. I LOVE my Land Rover. Granted its a 2012 . There are a couple of similar variants running around in my area. One left hand drive, and one right hand drive. Both diesels. I have chatted up one of the owners at the gas pump. I'm actually in the process of importing an auxiliary fuel tank from AUS for mine, right now. Learning "lots" about the customs/importation process right now. It is sitting somewhere in a container in the Port of Oakland right now, waiting to be deconsolidated so it can catch a ship to the Port of Houston. Looks like a stupidly capable, fun vehicle. Rover on. |

I could argue that certain manufacturers would be in different scenarios making entirely different cars were it not for their lack of effort and the US gov's shortsightedness with certain regulations. Hell, the 90's escort cosworth is essentially the focus rs everyone is shitting their pants about, just done 20 years ago. Imagine if Ford actually filled that niche back then. Real shame they didn't. |

High cool factor, great little Diesel engine. You probably could flip it and make a few $$.
But I'll say it. For the money, an old bronco with a 302 V8, power steering and brakes, moderately lifted with good tires and a locking diff and winch will get you anywhere. And the parts are much easier to find. |
