Do you know a tall dude named Scott from Michigan? |

Yes they would likely mind. What you could do is fly it straight up over your property until it can see over the wall. Don't think they could do much about that. Then again they do have an army of lawyers... View Quote I thought that even on a test track the lines of new vehicles were hidden. |

I've been there back in 2006/2007, and have friends that have worked there. Neat place.
We were running our little FSAE competition out near the skid pad, GT's and GT500's were taking laps on the ring. |

My aunt used to live across the street from GM's Milford Proving Grounds.
Non-stop "Vrooooom, screech, vrooooom, VROOOOM, SQUEAL, vroooooooooom" |

Nobody owns the airspace 1" above their property.
Fly your drone all you want. |

I get to hear the test track at work on my hike from the BFE parking lot. Cool to hear super cars being flung around the track at 100%...occasionally 105.

20 years ago I pulled up next to the wall in my van and stood on the roof to take a look.
A nice man asked me to leave. |
|
I was branch manager for a company once and had company car a ford escort. The car's engine was stamped on valve covers Prototype. Everytime work need to be done on it I had to take it into ford. It broke down once and some guy flew in from out of town to work on it.
That car was extremely fast and fuel mileage wow. But at last.....after two years they took it back and I got a regular company car. |
|
Fly it over this and I bet they get pissed:
Here''s Why the 2017 Ford GT Is Worth $500,000 |

I live a mile from the Caterpillar Proving Grounds, I can hear day and night heavy machinery doing what ever it is they are doing. Winter it is much louder with no vegetation coverage.
I would hazard a guess that a drone would get you in trouble if over their property. |

They called us Wall Birds when they asked us to leave.
Got kicked out a couple of times as a teen sitting on top of the wall in the late 60's. We got to see what we thought was a turbine semi truck. |
|
The medical offices next door on Oakwood can see over the walls and onto the track, the patient exam rooms look out onto the track over Rotunda dr.
Hard to learn while there are cargo vans zipping around the track and doing all sorts of stuff cargo vans should never do. |

I know Cat is pretty secret about what they do, Wife lived on the road to the proving grounds, she would see flatbeds roll by with escorts spreadout to keep cars from getting too close, the machinery would be wrapped tight with tarps. Cat has 2 proving/test grounds in my AO, the one in Edwards is more for experimental stuff I think, they are very tight with security there. Now flying a drone on the property next door I would 100% agree fly away. |

I see all the new test models driving around in a black and white striped covering with padded front and rear ends so you can't tell exactly how they look. No ranger size trucks in the zebra stripes, only F series. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Bring me pics of the new Ranger. Make sure to get good enough interior shots to see what kind of transmission it has. If he had told me it was an F150 I would have believed it. |

And the tire squealing begins. Sleep in late, drive fast cars. Nice job huh ?

Sell rival company rights to personal airspace and put in contract that you get to still watch.... Profit?

Not sure that is totally correct, maybe for private property and maybe for proving grounds, but I doubt you would get away with that on the Whitehouse airspace, Nuclear facilities and other government facilities. Romeo - MPG? Dearborn - DDC? Where do you live? DDC used to be an Army airfield..... I work at Ford's AZ PG......they take a very dim view of low flying aircraft. How do I know.....I have regular chats with the FAA FSDO. I have offered to lead the aircraft with tracers, but I wasn't taken up on that. I probably know the guys doing the squealing. View Quote |

But unless you are a film producer and have a big budget, and a team of people to clear this, I can't see them permitting anyone to potentially interrupt airport operations. So it's not just 5 miles. This is why a little knowledge can be dangerous. Buy or download sectional and terminal charts for where you want to fly FPV or sailplanes They are not that expensive, and maybe even free nowadays on-line. Do not ruin the RC-FPV hobby for everyone else. |

Eastside in San Tan - I really have no idea. GM's Desert PG used to be in Mesa, and now that has been developed, and they are in Yuma. Down that way (sort of) is Nissan, and VW, both in Maricopa. Our biggest problem with aircraft incursions has historically been from Trans Pac Academy out of Deer Vly Airport. |

Depends how tall the walls are and IIRC personal airspace over your property is 100 feet. So unless the wall is 100 feet they have no legal standing. View Quote |

You can hear the tires squealing all day long but cannot see inside as its contained by a large wall. Do you think the would get pissy if someone flew a drone in there for recon ? I don't own/never operated a drone. View Quote yes they would. They used to shoo us off the wall on the Village side when we were in middle school and would climb up to watch em run test laps. J- |
