It rained all day yesterday, and is very cold today. (Its like 50 right now)

"Very" cold?

psh. Merced's expected low is 30. From what I can tell, we're nearly there already.

and yes, I'm "from" socal before I'm "from" Merced, so I know what the perception is for "very" cold down there. Anything under 60 or so and--Katy, bar the door--pull out the parkas and snowpants, the S has HTF

I'm actually wearing a parka right now.

S only hits the fan if you have to drive on the freeways here during the rain. An accident every 3 miles.

Too true. I still have to drive that stuff every now and again...in fact, looking to be back in another couple weeks. Not looking forward to the possibility of LA-area freeways plus rain.

but hey, it's worth it for a couple weeks with the family.

...as long as someone doesn't collide with me. My car's messed-up enough as it is

supersix,

Just out of curiosity, what is the house construction like in your area?  Are the walls framed with 2x8 for more insulation, and do you have 24+ inches of insulation in your attics?  I couldn't imagine dealing with that kind of cold on a regular basis!  You win!

mine is a log cabin, with a wood stove and lots of attic insulation. Frame construction needs a min of R21 in the walls and R38 or better in the ceilings

Enough flurries to get my hopes up, and then it stopped. But it sure is cold out there.

Can't wait for a good storm.

We are expecting an inch of rain tonight and 1 to 2 inches tomorrow. But it will warm up to the fifties.

I'll be working outside all day tomorrow.

This is the larger city park here in my little town in Yamhill Co. Oregon:

This river is usually not more than 5 ft. across and *maybe* a foot or three deep.

Let's not do *that* anymore
