The big difference is that both Gore and Kerry make a rock seem charismatic. Democrats voted for them because "at least they're not Bush," the same way Republicans will vote for McCain because "at least he's not Obama." But there is real excitement surrounding Obama. Hell, there are plenty of people that don't know about or don't care about his politics but still want him to win because he stands for "change."

The Problem as I see it...
Billery hinted that she would accept the Veep spot if Hussain asked her.

THAT could spell a doomsday ticket for McCain. It would join the Dem ranks, since the
Billery supporters would expect her to be a sort of co-president like she aspired to be
with her husband. It would allow Hussein renewed momentum, and would TOTALLY
dominate the mainstream media. ALL they would talk about is the the FIRST black & FIRST
woman in the Whitehouse. They will immediately start reporting it like it is a done deal.
Unfortunately by November, many republicans, particularly the more conservative ones, may
not turn out to vote... taking the attitude of what is the point. This will set up a perfect storm.
Many of the Democrats that turn out will vote a strait Demo ticket... this would result in an even
higher control of congress by the Democrats. THAT scenario would be a disaster. They could & would
pass all sorts of Marxist legislation without any risk of resistance.

Many of the people here are politically aware for any number of reasons.  The average person unfortunately is not.
During the last presidential election, a local talk radio station randomly interview people on the street.  Too many, when
asked who the president was... said Clinton.  Bush was running for his second term.  More didn't know who was running.
Many who knew the President didn't know the VP, let alone anyone else.  Many these people were going to vote.

The allure of false promises to obtain votes and further an agenda.
