 I honestly don't know off the top of my head. I probably have about thirty 30-rounders for my 3 ARs. What I mean by "more than I'd need" is that if I was in the house and it was for defense, I'd probably have time to be reloading magazines (or have someone else doing it), and if my house got hit by a comet or something, and hordes or zombies were about, and I had to run around outside tactically-like I don't think I'd carry more than 10 or so mags - and I certainly wouldn't be carrying 3 ARs by myself. |

I have 20 30 rounders per AR, 20 30 rounders per Ak loaded and packed in separate canvas range bags (one for each rifle). I also keep a LULA, small bottle of CLP, boresnake and extra Aimpoint/Surefire batteries in each bag. One full ammo can per weapon is stored with the bags. Be sure to plainly mark the range bags and cans with AR and AK( I use blue tape for AR and Red tape for AK) so you don't grab the wrong one!

No shit! Beat me to it. A man can only hump so much ammo and mags. When I was a young tad, I used to load up as much as my big butt could hump all day...a bandoleer plus several loaded mags...something like 260 rounds total. Now I'm old...hell I couldn't carry that crap around the block...SHTF or not!

One should have enough that you would be willing to drop and leave them in a potential shtf situation. Stooping down to pick up spent mags would be a very vulnerable position to be in during a firefight.

I have to two 10 rd rotery clips that came with my 10/22, and I can carry the loose .38 special ammo in my pocket. ( half of a box left over from 5 years ago when I got the pistol)

let's see...4 mags for the FAL (20 rds ea)
16 30 rd mags for my AR's 8 20 rd mags for my AR's 3 30 rd mags for my SKS (converted AK mags from pre -94...not that it matters) 8 10 rd mags for my 10/22 I'm sure there is more...just can't recall off the top of my head |
