Is it ok to run if you are chasing the bear?

I'm with you, OP. We need common sense regulations for fast runners. A background check to ensure that you're not going to be using your speed to flee the scene of your crimes, a registry of runners that we can reference when a running-related crime has been committed, and I'd like to see running shoes locked up at licensed tracks to be used there only. If you have nothing to hide, complying with these regulations shouldn't be a problem.

OP is hilarious.

Also, I love my windproof Gore·Tex running tights.

You are wrong, Johnny. There is only one group who is untrustworthy: Cyclists.

I say they are the most untrustworthy people of all! I mean, NO single group of people can find that many bodies consistently unless they were in on it.

You have no idea how good my ass looks in woman's shorts.

Of the two groups cyclists are MORE untrustworthy......

Toss a couple of nutty Christian groups in the mix and it's a wonder I'm allowed out in public.

I ran jogged the Shiner half marathon last month for the second year in a row. It was a lot of fun.

It was chilly that morning. I wore tights.

OK, I've been running for 46 years religiously.  Some fast some slow, long distance some not so long, trails, hills, w/wo a pack, etc..

Starting and stopping is the killer. Just put your shoes on and get out the door, it does not matter how far/fast you go, just that you go.  Running is mostly psychological not physical and very addicting.

I am an addict.

If you started today and ran like a kid, making it fun and letting your mind wonder, no set distance or speed, listening to your body(KEY).  This time next year you'll be amazed.  It will take a year to become addicted, but you have to get out the door.

Now to toot my horn.  I'm 67, take no medicine except for a 1 a day vitamin. That's not to say I don't have issues, old age etc., but I recover fast.  I had a colonoscopy at 65 and my heart rate during the procedure was 37.
I read this in some running book way back, concerning joints, ligaments, and muscles.  If the pain increases stop, if it stays the same or subsides, you're OK.  Since you are going to run the rest of your life, you will see every running injury there is.  You're not out to impress anyone.

If I get my shoes on, I'm GTG!

Thats a damned respectable time for those of you that dont know.

How old are you?   That's right at a BQ time for my age.

32, so a BQ for me is 3:05.

I think I can do it within the next year or two with the way things are going. Even if I can't cut down my time that much I'll still BQ if I can just manage to not get slower over the next decade or so.

I've always believed I need to run no farther than the nearest exit or bullet-proof object depending on situation.

Good luck!  I got within 4 minutes of a BQ before I gave up and switched to trail running.

Besides that, a real man would face the Grizzly and box it to submission...prove to it why you're at the top of the food chain.

If the bear catches you at a bad time, you don't have to stop there.  You can take it all of the way and get yourself a bearskin rug out of the deal.

... And we box bears.

You runners disgust me.
