When did this become a popularity contest?  Isn't that what Kerry was aiming for?

Noon,

Maybe you could provide some confirmation.  Do you remember what NYC was BEFORE Rudy was elected?  Do you remember how Koch and Dinkins left the city in financial and physical ruins?  They drained the city dry like a modern day Boss Tweed.  Now, do you remember what the city was AFTER Rudy was done with it.  Ahh, sighs of nostalgia.

Yep, the people of New York love Rudy.  He turned it around, and brought back integrity.

And yes, I'm dying without hockey....it's been a rough winter!

Noon,

Same here pal.  Damn greedy palyers!!!

...and the rest of America – the 99 percent of the population that DOESN'T live in NYC – couldn't care less about that.

Remember the old cliche about how Mussolini made the trains run on time? It's true: Any 2-bit tyrant can 'clean up the town'. However, doing it without trampling on civil rights is what REALLY separates the men from the boys.

I wouldn't vote for Rudy for president, for the same reasons you wouldn't, but he did do a lot of good for nyc, which was a lost cause from a gunwoners standpoint before he took office anyways.

And there you go. It took an American hero to turn NYC circa 1993 into NYC circa 2002.  Turning America circa 2005 into NYC circa 2002 would be the work of a fascist dictator.

Thank you Aimless.  Like I said, Rudy compromised on these sensative issues in order to get elected and have his shot at cleaning up NYC.  I guarantee you that, IF (and that is a big IF considering that lots of people believe that Jeb Bush will be nominated in 2008) Rudy were elected, he would dramatically reduce the Nation's rampant crime rates.  One thing is for sure, an incident such as the Nichols' crime spree in Georgia, would never happen under Rudy's watch.

Are they giving away crack in your internet cafe? What in the pluperfect FUCK does the president of the United States have to do with security inside a county courthouse in Georgia? You mean that if Giuliani were president, all correctional officers would become high-speed low-drag operators, or all accused rapists would become pacifists? Or would he, using his ace mayoral and prosecutorial skills, view the attack on the CO from the Fortress of Solitude and race to the scene, subdue the villain, and avert the disaster? Are you nuts? I am a personal aquaintance of Rudy Giuliani, and I'd pick Rice over him any day.

I like him as a person, even if what he did to his wife is nearly unforgiveable. I disagree vehemently with him on any number of issues, guns being the most obvious. But if I had to choose between him and Hillary, I wouldn't hesitate for one second. Rudy would get the nod.

I think you will see Bill Frist run for President w/ Rice as a VP running mate. Pretty good combination I think. If Hitlery runs in 2008 the GOP is going to have to get Rice on the ticket to get the women and minorities to vote GOP.

Rudy wont even win NY. How can you think he will win the election? No way.
And  Condi Rice all but said on Meet The Press, last sunday, that she would not run for president. I know things change, but she told Russert she didnt want to, had no intention of, and was not going to.
I like her also, but right now I think it will be some one else.

Rudy doesn't stand a fucking chance. Myopic New Yorkers need to wake up and realize that there are 49 other states involved.

Uh, dude. The man won the mayoral race in NEW YORK CITY, the bastion of liberalism in New York State.

If he can win there, he can easily take the rest of the state, which is moderate if not even Republican. You can't count him out that easily.

That's the thing with Rudy. He's the perfect centrist. The problem is, a centrist won't win against Hillary. We need a hard-charging Reagan-like Conservative to steamroll the bitch, or someone like Condi who can simply outclass her.

No. Since the VP must be able to become President in an instant, and since the President must be a native-born American, I don't believe that would fly. If they passed him over in the event of a tragedy and went to the Speaker of the House, it would cause a Constitutional crisis (egged on by the Dems, of course). They'd want to avoid that at all costs.

Besides, Arnold is hardly any better on guns than Rudy.....
