When I was a kid I thought A&W was the only kind there was !! My dad took and got us all a ROOTBEAR FLOAT we had never seen such things before.........great memory !

Send me a Bushmaster or Colt AR and I'll give you a life supply!  Our machine's at work sell it.Seriously though, Hires Root Beer (which I can't believe no one has mentioned) or homemade from "The Rootbeer Stand" in Sharonville, OH is hands down my favorite. |

When I was a kid, I worked at a root beer
stand for the summer. One Sunday afternoon there ws a car/motorcycle accident on the road in front of the stand. The passenger on the motorcycle was killed; landed in the parking lot. Blood and brain matter everywhere. After the accident was cleared someone had to clean up the mess. A state trooper borrowed a bucket and mop from the stand. The bucket was the one we set aside to use only in mixing the root beer ingredients. Next day, owner comes in and mixes a batch of root beer....Guess which bucket he used.

Yes, I actualy like it... Kind of like a Coke vs Pepsi thing... Pepsi is too sweet, Coke is 'just right'... Same deal for A&W, Mug, and worst of all Sprecher... Barqs has a more 'Coke-ish' taste, which is no suprise, it's made by Coca-Cola... |

Barq's was only recently (15yrs?) liscened to Coka-Cola. It's been around a very long time. I grew up on the stuff in south MS, and it was often the only brand carried by stores. I'm glad it's gone national, but it just isn't the same coming out of a can or plastic bottle. The only way to drink a Barq's is ice cold from a glass (return for deposit) bottle. |
