Now THATS something I really want to try, hog hunting. Your right, we aint got those in Nebraska. Jesus, whats it take to drop a hog? I would think a .416 is just a bit much.......A whole damned lot in fact...... |

Shhhh, don't give them any effective ideas. I don't think that anyone here (Kalifornia) who wants to ban guns would be able to come up with that on their own. |

I found this old numbers for firearm sales. They came sometime in the 1990s.
350,000 of 3.5 million is 10% not 50%. |

Serbu has a new Kali legal .510 DTC BFG-50 as well. So the dumbass politicos over there are getting double bitch slapped. Need a photchop of Feinswine with a Barret & BFG on each side of her head.

And no telling how much per round. Don't forget he sells M33 ball for $320 per 80 rd case of the "Barrett" headstamped ammo. You get the rifle, be prepared to spend major $$$ on ammo you can only get from them. You should be able to find .50 on the 'net for around $1.30 ish per round. The single shot rifle only costs about $800-850 to produce. Don't think you aren't taking it in the ass when you get this rifle. I saw the ammo before I left. It is a CNC turned 400g solid copper. Completely rformed .50 BMG brass. You are going to spend some bucks for it. Most other manufacturers are standardizing on the .50 DTC. One simple resizing operation and standard bullets. Much easier on the wallet. You would think if the Barretts wanted to really be the Friends of Cali, they would go this route. Something to think about. |
Exactly. We've hashed over this in the 50BMG forum. Most of us who are into the 50BMG don't have much interest in a round that has even worse barrel/throat wear characteristics as it is already. If anything, the 50BMG could stand to be necked UP like the 14.5 JDJ that SSK Industries chambers for. I'd rather fire 1130 grains at 2500-2700fps than fire 400grains at 3500-4k fps. Only reason I would be tempted to buy the M95 as offered, get my hands on it and send it to a reputable smith to take off the 400 +P+P+P+P+P+P+ Ultra Commie Magnum Butt Stomper barrel and have a 50cal. barrel installed that is reamed for 510DTC. Trouble would almost be worth the hassle of losing Barrett factory support by being able to get a Barrett 50 post Ca ban. I have two theories as to why Barrett didn't go with 50DTC. He would rather have a more unique round to turn around and "sell" through marketing hype. And the other reason, it would be sound reasoning to not chamber for 2 different 50s so as to reduce the possibility that a gun that was supposed to be a 50BMG got reamed for 510DTC(would be bad juju if it were a contract gun) but even then that's retarded considering the test firing that would aleviate that problem. Make a M99 or M95 in 50DTC and I will buy it. Otherwise, ain't interested. |

In 2002 (the last year for which we have complete records), there were 352,000 guns sold in CA. In the entire US that same year, 7,806,000 firearms background checks were done for the sale of firearms. That means CA accounted for only 4.5% of US gun sales in 2002 (not counting FTF sales that require no background check). |

Dude, it costs money to design a new rifle and cartridge. It also costs money to make the tooling to make the new rifle. Good on ya, Mr. Barrett. I just love that advertisement. |
The ad says "Now available for purchase by all law-abiding US citizens and their state and local law enforcement agencies." So I would say he's abandoned his earlier position, and is now servicing the state of CA. I had been considering the purchase of an M99, but now maybe not. |
Jeez, I was planning on buying a .50 from Barrett, but with velocities like that, I think I might have to rethink which large caliber I'm going to go with...lol, although finding ammo might be a bit on the hard side.
Still, that's seriously cool. |
I beleive they already make a .223 saboted 50bmg round! |
Wouldn't it basically self-destruct as soon as it left the barrel? Unless it has something like a 1-in-50 twist? |
Depends on if you're asking Skip Talbot, or some Army PFC...Klaus at State Arms had a cartridge called the .375 Mach V, was .50 necked down, barrel life was about 100 rounds. |
huh? |
Machined copper solids don't tend to behave that way even at spank the monkey Space Ball 1 "they've gone plaid" velocities. |

I would support him if i had $5000 to spend on one of his .50s!
Oh man, I love it! Good for him.
Another fine win for us to add against the grabber's long list losses. Depending on the price, I'm gonna have to buy one just for the sake of it alone. |
well that there 416 would do it no issue, I use a 458 socom as my dedicated hog gun, but most people use their deer rifles, I just like something with more "punch" |
+1,000 on I wish I had the money to support him, would love to have a .50 semi auto.
Yeah NO SHIT! I LOVE the guys who throw away all the PC crap and tell it like it is Barrett and Nugent are two that come to mind. |
Fuggin Awesome! Wish I could afford one, Barrett ROCKS. I wish ALL gun companies had owners that were like him
That ad is funny... no doubt Kali will wave their magic ban-wand over this one in a year or three.
I hear criminals are already running around on the streets of Kali with these, shooting down helicopters and trying to hit the White House from across the country. |

I'd love a Barrett rifle but that is too much right now.......way too much |

unfortunately i don't see what's preventing them from just banning the rifle by name. and the next copy, and the next copy.....

Good for him! If I was rich I'd buy a number of his products in a heartbeat.

Less than a weeks worth of profit from my house? Are you crazy? Just kidding, that's about two week's worth of increase. On the gun numbers I do recall seeing prior to 2000 that California had more AR's sold in it than any other state. That was due to the fact that we're 30% larger than the next biggest state and the ban that was coming got a bunch of people to buy a bunch of rifles. The population is pretty well split in half like some of the other more populous states with clear divides between the urban liberals and the rural conservatives. I live within a 9 iron shot of the badlands and 50 miles out of Los Angeles, all my neighbors have guns. Since 2000 the sales of AR's is down here but the sales for the Springfield Armory M1A are way up ... I'm close to buying another in fact. |
The ban here are on sales, not possession. |
Am I the only person who thinks it's bullshit that he(the way I read the ad) is selling them to state/local agencies in CA? It should be to people only, not agencies, as he said last year when the ban was enacted. Hopefully I'm just reading that ad wrong.
+1. I would say they are disproportinately smaller, since many guns are not even legal there. |
You mean I have to get one of those now? Good job Ronnie! We need more people like you! |
Just when you think you can't love a man any more... he does something like stick his foot up some CA elitist political ass.
Awesome... - BG |
I smell a "by name" ban on Barrett Firearms, kinda like Norinco.
That would be the only way to stop Barrett from constantly getting around their (unjust) bans. Wouldn't surprise me if they did. B_S |
I hope that is what happens. Barrett strikes me as the kind of person to fight that action legally. I dont think the supreme court would uphold CA banning products by name because they dont like them. They would have no case to stand on since there is grounds to ban Barrett by name. |
