Anyhow, I guess I'll find a copy and re-read it to see what all this buzz is really about.

It's a great story, lots of neat SF stuff in it, controversial ideas and such, but also a masterpiece of writing.
He doesn't start at the beginning with a high school kid, or at the end and tell it all in flash back. He starts in the middle, with a capsule drop, and within a few moments, BOOM! you're in a war zone. The first chapter ends with him recovering one of his wounded men. It ends with "He died on the way up", and this is YOUR man that just bit the big kishko. STILL gives me chills, and I've read it a dozen times.
When I was at the San Antonio WorldCon a few years ago (1997?), the director (producer?), I believe it was, was saying "Sure we left out the MI suits, but its a great film, give it a chance." I had hopes he'd be lynched on the spot, I could see he had NO idea what the story was about. Wretch. Retch.
