We don't own parrots... they own us.

Truth. Little four year olds in feathered pajamas.

You should hear Duncan taunt the dogs next door. Hysterical.

Izzy learned to mimic the sound the smoke detector makes when it is low on batteries.
Took us 2 weeks and a couple dozen batteries to figure that one out. . .

They are quite intellegent animals.  They'll talk to you.  Izzy recognizes her own name, and chirps a thank you when u give her food/water/millet/ a ride back to her cage.

It was sad. He got run over by a car, from what the neighbors said, someone tried to run it over on purpose, and he was hit. His jaw had to be reconstructed and he lost his front teeth. My nickname for him is Vampire kitty.

I'm sorry to hear that, if I'd known that I wouldn't have written that. I thought it was either him making some kind of face or crumbs he was licking or something.
It's an unfortunate story with a happy ending though. We had a cat that had to have his jaw reconstructed, we think he was kicked, and another had his jaws injured like so by a vehicle and him we didn't locate till 10 days after and at that point his jaw couldn't be fixed cause of the deterioration of the jaw muscles.
I also had to have my jaws wired shut for around 6 weeks after mine were fractured. I have porceline front teeth myself from numerous things, so I can relate to your cat Blackie.
He's fortunate to have such a good home. God bless!!

more of our pack.

Blitzer and me, back in '94.
Blitzer's a german shepherd chow.

scar and faus, I got them in the spring of '95 after Blitzer passed away.
Mafausa passed away in july '03, and scar has been very sad without him.
They're shepherd samoyeds.

and thor, a german shepherd I bought in july '95.
He was a 1 family dog here, and tougher than he looks.
He's rightly named.
He also passed away in july '03, 4 days after Mafausa did.

God willing I'll be with them again!!!!!!!

Here's Leviathan, my Maine Coon:

As many of you know, he's currently undergoing radiation treatment for cancer.  He is currently in his second week (out of four) of treatment at the University of Missouri vetinary oncology program.

Fingers crossed!  When his treatment is done, I'm going to change his name from "Leviathan" to "Widescreen High Definition Television"

Here he is with his sister, Behemoth:

I need to get a digital camera.  I've got a 4 year-old Harlequin Great Dane who is 6'8" when he stands on his hindquarters.  He puts his paws on my shoulders and can touch the top of a door frame with his nose.

I had pets all the time while I was growing up, cats, dogs and birds were the pets.

I have been in the army for 4.5 years and I have lived every bit of that in the barracks which means no pets.

I loe to read threads like these but they just bring tears to my eyes.
