Crazy people take crazy pills.

Yep.  And the real problems come when they stop taking their pills.

This is more the correct answer. Im on zoloft, does that mean Im going to go on a killing spree? No it does not. Im consistant in taking my meds, It is when you stop taking them that shit goes south.

Not always.

Side effects include "Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome" http://www.webmd.com/drugs/mono-8095-SERTRALINE+-+ORAL.aspx?drugid=35&drugname=zoloft+oral&pagenumber=6  and thoughts of suicide and can make you nervous and anxious.

Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome includes "cognitive changes such as delirium". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuroleptic_malignant_syndrome

So, you can end up suicidal, nervous, anxious and delirious--and toss in chronic sleep disorder for good measure. What could go wrong?

All of these drugs list pretty much the same kind of possible side effects.

ETA: I'm not saying this is the cause in these cases. But with the massive overuse of these drugs, eventually uncaught "rare side effects" are going to have an effect.

but when you stop taking them there are consequences to your brain chemistry...

Psychotropic meds how do they work..

I never said there wasn't -- they also come with warnings not to stop taking them suddenly.

I refuted the idea that it was impossible for these drugs (Zoloft in this case) to cause problems.

I then said that with their overuse (overuse as in "prescribed to too many people"), eventually a set of side effects could stack up to cause problems.

While I think it definitely bears investigation,  two things should be kept in mind.

1 - Correlation =/= Causation : Just because the drugs are present doesn't mean they caused the incidents.

I.E. are increased ice cream sales in summer causing increased drownings in summer?

2 - While this seems like a lengthy list of evidence,  it is both anecdotal and statistically insignificant.

Many more murders and suicides happened over the period of time covered by this list.  Why are they not listed? Because they do not fit the message trying to be conveyed.

Facts can be tricky things to grasp.  They can be EASILY manipulated.

I've heard this before.

But did the drugs cause/aggrivate their psychosis... or did they just happen to be taking them cause they were all nuts anyways?

My suspicion is the latter.

the entire premise that chemical potions
can change a spiritual problem
or substitute for morality

  IS
WRONG.

All the drugs do is make $$$$ for the scum that push them on our children and make the tenuous grasp some have on acceptable behaviour impossible to maintain.

I do wonder about the possible side effects when they include thoughts of suicide (always in the commercials), could thoughts of murder be a side-effect?

Someone needs to remind Noveske of this one so it can get added to the list in that it brought quite a bit of attention to Prozac at the time.  Wesbecker was loaded up that day and even brought along a bayonet.......Wesbecker Louisville Shootings
