Colt has done this before, '09 was the last time I recall them halting commercial sales to focus on fulfilling their contract requirements. The Colt market dried up for about 6 months that time. They're not suspending civilian sales, they're focusing their efforts on their contract fulfillment to LE and .mil... View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

So what. I hope they go under and have for years. I care about Colt's about as much as they do about us. FC.

Well bye.gif
Colt has been outsourcing a lot of it's parts for years now anyway. They haven't been the gold standard for about a decade now. |

Colt trying to help distributors move the thousands of Colts they have stacked deep in the warehouses. View Quote Brownells bought a bunch of their CCU uppers and has put them on sale twice. It's a much more crowded market than it used to be and Colt has been somewhat reluctant to update their offering because M4 contract. Their CCU is actually a very good package...but consider that it's the first mid-length gun they've offered while just about everybody else has been selling them for years. I bought both of my CCU uppers on sale because the normal price of around $700 is kind of nuts given what you can get other high quality upper receivers for. |

Are they including AR's in this because I have never met anyone who owns any other type of Colt "long gun" View Quote |

In response to the news, one industry insider told us . . .
They’ve been losing left and right to companies both big and small. They don’t have the high end or the low end market, and they’ve finally realized that the prancing pony isn’t enough for this generation of shooters to buy less rifle for more money. Instead of getting better, they’ve given up. View Quote |

Anyone whose bought a colt AR15 at retail post 2012 is a fool.
A 6920 with magpul furniture is like $1200. For that price I could get a BCM with a Mlok free float handguard, or TWO M&P15's with lifetime warranties. |

You guys noticed FN stopped making the M249s as well? Something going on behind the scenes. I can understand them on stopping.....hard to compete with PSA prices will all you have is a name.

That article is pretty thin on info. Did they stop for this quarter to fill an order for the Transylvania Fish and Game Dept? Have they given up on civilian sales where millennials don't care about Colt?

I noticed they did not mention COLT Sporting arms located in Breckenridge, TX

Don't like seeing this but in reality it has no impact for me as I don't have any Colts, nor did I have any plans to purchase any. I considered some of the OEM kits when the prices dropped down around $600 but decided against them as I prefer mid length gas systems. I've been close to picking up a 1911 from them at times but have always found better options on the market for rifles.
If this ends up being a real long term thing it will be good for the flippers, but it'll just make Colt another no-buy brand for me. I won't miss them, but just like Walmart it will be a loss having another company abandon us. |

Quoted: The 6920's with Magpul furniture seem to be going for between $900-950. At the $1,200 price point they are selling the "Enhanced Patrol Rifle"...which seems to be a pretty good configuration apart from the shitty Magpul sights: https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-rk4zcah9rr/images/stencil/500x659/products/5149/8333/s47886_2048x__81725.1537294443.jpg View Quote https://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/products2.cfm/ID/161536 |

Oh no!
Now I only have dozens of other AR manufacturers to choose from. |

What contracts? I think they are in the to M4--->M4A1 conversions. What else are the currently working on?

Who cares?
Colt has been irrelevant for 2 decades. They sued to stop other manufacturers from making M4's. Overpriced, generic, middle tier |

Click bait thread. Commercial sales will halt while Colt focuses on LE and .mil contracts. Colts will get scarce for a few months until contract obligations met. This certainly isn't the first time Colt has focused on contracts... View Quote |

Very, very happy to take my money elsewhere.
Thanks for letting me know Colt. |
