I've shot ALMOST that close to deer on purpose just to see their reactions... very similar, they just fawkin stand there.  I bet he was just having fun.  I'd never videotape my escapades though.

You are giving that lousy shooter way too much credit.

I think that guy didn't check his gear before he went out....  That didn't look like a long shot....  Wow!

+1

I don't hunt but I think that I would want to make sure that I was sighted in before I went out.

I have a friend of a friend that took 3 shots at a deer this season.  He took 3 shots and missed all with a modern MUZZLELOADER!!.

Man, those deer sure are elusive creatures.

Watched a guy try for a doe; three shots at about 400yds with similar results.  He was using a sporterized Mauser 8mm and a Bushnell scope and didn't have the holdover right.  There were three does feeding together on the other side of a clearcut; they didn't see us at all. You could see the shots hitting the trees above and behind the doe; every time he shot the doe would look around with a "What was that?" look.

He finally spooked them by cutting a branch off of the tree, which fell on the doe.

I always wonder why they don't spook when they hear the CRACK of the shot going past them.
