These reporters always track down the most radical of radicals to make their story seem that much more significant. I agree. Having read quite a bit on the Pakistani military and intelligence services since 9-11 I would have to say that most of the leadership of the above are radical by our standards. That general was fairly close to the mainstream in a very fundamentalist-supporting martial culture. That's why Musharaff has had to purge so many generals and spooks time and time again since Bush's ultimatum. Musharaff "gets it" unlike the majority of the rest. |
