As expected, there are already multiple threads over at DU declaring "Obama's Strategy" successful in ending use of chemical weapons in Syria, and Obama a master strategist.

O was sweating bullets looking for any way out.  But hey why not trust the UN with the weapons.  Assad cannot use them up, and they will have them to use against us.

First, Obama IS smarter than all of us.  He's managed to push a massively Socialist agenda while lining the pockets of his friends AND his public enemies.  He keeps everyone on the same page, including a large percentage of Republicans.  He's managed to wipe away multiple large scale scandals and put in to place his friends no matter what their background is. He's done all of this while managing to get reelected for a second term.  Now he's trying to get us into wars to provide air support for our sworn enemies and he's stealing money from retirement funds to pay for the government since he can't get ahold of the revenues or a deficit increase fast enough.

Yeah, he's pretty smart.

This (Syria) could or could not be a strategic move. He came off looking like an idiot and had to have Putin come in and give him an out.  It's fairly obvious.  I don't think it's a "win" for Obama personally, but he'll weather yet another storm and put this behind him.  He did (tinfoil on, please) degrade America's reputation around the world.  Yet another nail in the coffin of the superpower.  I think he wants that to be one of his outcomes from his Presidency.

Could the truth be that this is just all posturing?   Could this be all very carefully scripted?  A plot and ploy by high ups in the military to scare the shit out of Asad
only to give him an "out" by giving up all chemical WMD's.  Isn't this what the US and the world wants in the first place?  No blood shed, no boots on the ground,

Obama drew his double-dog-dare line in the sand.  Frankly I think "don't use chemical weapons" would have been a lot easier to abide by then "let inspectors mange your weapons", and allegedly Assad decided to use 'em anyway.  The idea that everything until now was an elaborate ruse to back-door in some UN inspectors is highly unlikely.

Fuck it, knowing what little popular support Obama has Assad should stick to his guns: "I didn't use chemical weapons and fuck your requirements".  Obama has a pretty poor track record of following up on his threats.

No it wasn't posturing.  It was complete fuck up.

If it was posturing, obama would have gotten approval of Congress first, a coalition with our allies, and he would have contacted the Russians early on to get their help.

When you posture, two things are criticial.  1.  You play the strongest hand possible, meaning you have congressional approval, allied help.  2.  You have a real plan if it doesn't work.

It almost would be a plausible plan had it not been for the fact that he's had so many disastrous foreign policy incidents. It would be far fetched to believe that he got this one right where he has failed miserably on all others.
This thing is far from over. Obie wants to bomb Syria plain and simple in order to help his "freedom loving" Muzzie buds. I don't believe the drum beating for missiles flying are over just yet.

OP, looks like Barry Soetoro is following the Cloward-Piven strategy perfectly.   He really is a marxist/socialist and, I suspect, a closet muslim, who hates capitalism and everything our country stands for.

It looks to me that he is doing a very effective job of destroying our socio-economic system from within.

And then comes Hillary (called "the little red" in her college days) to finish the job.

Sometimes I thank God that I am older and most of my life is over.   I don't think I would like to see this country in another twenty years.

Nope.

For your scenario to be valid, President Zero would have had to accept the role of a fool on the international stage.

A person with his ego would never accept the international ridicule ("I didn't draw the red line.") to achieve such a small victory.

Any time you consider Obama's actions, look at it from his point of view, me, me, me, everybody else sucks hind tit.

His Cabinet Team is mainly consisted of a gaggle of neo-Marxists and rabid homosexuals, along with Muslim Brotherhood plants and naive morons.  He is the most ill-informed President on a personal and WH Staff standpoint I think we've ever seen.

He lacks a basic understanding of geography and history, because he actually believes the Nation of Islam/Communist disinfo version of the US's role in the world, and by golly, he's going to dress us down.  Did you all catch what he said about the Panama Canal and South Carolina on Jay Leno?  He is so painfully retarded, it's not even laughable.

No, he didn't plan all this out, some reporter asked Kerry the right question, and he stumbled into an answer, and the Russians jumped on the opportunity to save their ally.

If Assad turns over his weapons, he'll snatch a huge political victory from the jaws of defeat anyway.

I really don't get the folks who think this is going to make Obama look bad, he looked like a lunatic before, now it looks like his playing tough guy got the result he wanted without actually having to commit an act of war.

Politically this is a Godsend for Obama, and it's probably a good thing for the interests of the US as well. Creates a lot of cognitive dissonance doesn't it?

By allowing Russia to take control of the Chemical weapons, OHB has just added 70,000 troops to the Syrian Army, this civil war will be over in 6-9 months.  Rebel forces will fire on Soviet troops and Putin get's his ball rolling, Assad is still in power, Russia gains another massive arms sale and we (US) look like we've been stood up for Prom.
