In 1999, I was working at a mine that produced lead zinc and copper.  The ore was worth $42 per ton.

Due to China, that same ore is now worth $150 per ton.

Think what goes into a round of ammo and tell me how the price will drop before the metals markets crash.

I make my own for about $100 per thousand...

I just bought 2000 rounds worth of powder, primers, and bullets...

Things like this mean nothing to me...

+1

never bought a factory-made .223 round in 30+ years of shooting them, but I've reloaded tens-of-thousands of them

Don't count on it. China is buying up raw materials like crazy as they continue to develop at ever increasing rates.

Talking to a few Chinese factory owners at SHOT show, they told me that things like copper, aluminum, iron, etc., etc. are continuing to rise in price as China continues to grow. I don't see the price coming back down anytime soon. If anything, it's only going higher.

Just MHO.

I looked up Copper prices today, they are up 79% of what they were 12 monts ago. Last Friday the spot metal price on copper was $2.88 per pound.   The only good news is that scrap metals are up also, save your brass.

My reloader is complaining that people are taking their brass to the scrapyard over taking it back to get reloaded. They are cutting their own throats in the long run, they just do not realize it yet. I save my .45 brass and he reloads MY brass for me. I know how many times it has been fired and thru what gun.

I do keep all my non reloadable berdan brass and scrap that out, I'll also clean up the range of it and toss it in the bucket too.
