Aloha, Mark View Quote Pls liberate Alberta. Kthnxbai. SKSes aren't that cheap up here, unless you buy them when they're on sale and bundled with a 1200rnd tin of ammo. Bagged milk doesn't exist in Alberta. |

The best part of the show was seeing all the MG-42s, -34s, Stens, Brens etc. Unfortunately all were deactivated. I saw one prohibited weapon, an Uzi. I didn't ask, but I don't think it was FA. 1000CAD. Prohibs are cheap. There are 2 tiers of deactivated guns here, those which are welded shut (recently deactivated) and those done properly (ie, still able to work the action, pull the trigger etc.) Unfortunately, a lot of firearms which are currently classified prohibited are being deactivated. One guy in Alberta has a waiting list of 3000 to be deactivated. 3000 |

Some who is only allowed 7 rounds, but not allowed short barrels, isn't in much of a position to talk smack, is he? View Quote We can have 10 rounders. No carry though. Supposedly the RCMP wants to clamp down on the AR15 pistol magazines. Standard capacity 10/22 magazines are now prohibited, due to a handful of Chargers. |

Standard capacity 10/22 magazines are now prohibited, due to a handful of Chargers. I'm not a lawyer, yadayada etc. The fucked up part is that there are so few Chargers up here (I don't remember exactly, but it's well under 10000, maybe even under 1000), relative to the total number of 10/22. RCMP gonna RCMP. |

Hey now, b'ye, you better watch yer tongue, eh? Wouldn't want me to toss you over the bridge and into a snow bank now, eh? For the record, you're absolutely correct about Newfies being damn near impossible to understand. My Mom was born and raised there (born a Newfie citizen and made a Canadian citizen the following month when NL joined Canada), and I lived there for about a year while in high school. They really do speak a completely different language, due to the long time remoteness of the island, as well as the mish-mash of several languages and dialects (English, Irish-English, French, native/First Peoples, etc.). But, when you learn to decipher what they're saying, it can be funny as hell to listen to them. just don't be a damn mainlander and try to tell a Newfie joke. that's a good way to end up black, blue, and floating in the Bay of Islands. The coolest product I saw at the show was the i3armory Icon 10/22 and 597 rifle chassis.
It looks a bit like a SCAR or 805 Bren, it's TypeIII anodized, and 100% made in Alberta (even the box it ships in). Some of it is billet, some is an extrusion. It accepts AR15 stocks and grips. It felt lighter than an SR-22. Price is currently 450CAD, despite production being quite low. I was really surprised at the price, I thought it would cost more. The guy who designed it was there, I spoke with him for about 20 minutes, he seems like a good dude. |

A hundred years later, the province is totally reliant on the government. When we lived there, people spoke openly about their plans to work just long enough to qualify for unemployment, which was used to get them through the winter. Heck, the island's abject poverty is the reason it is a province, at all. In 1948, the inhabitants couldn't afford to be self-governing. The islanders voted to join Canada as a way to get themselves out of crushing debt. There was a movement about to join the U.S., but the U.K. wasn't about to have that. |

That's very unfortunate that their attitude is like that. IMO, and I'm biased, they'd be better off voting pro-oilsands...oilsands jobs pay much better than welfare. The prairies (especially Alberta) have (or had) tons of well-paying jobs for Maritimers. Voting Liberal results in more Maritimers on welfare. /rant |
