Before they arrived he should have ditched his piece, stripped down to a tshirt and boxers and got down on his hands and knees. Works every time.

If it was me and I wasn't hurt too bad, pay me $200-500k and we will call it even.

No lawyer etc just drop the money in my account, and have the Officer apologize.

Then after I am paid me and the Officer will go have a drink and laugh the entire thing off.

One thing I always worried about is stopping a robbery and get shot by mistake thinking I was the guy with a gun.

Cop shooting needs investigation and appropriate action taken.

That being said what is the lesson here for tactics?

PD was also responding, so someone (could be multiple people) had called the police too.

PD is responding to a man with a gun call and someone has also called their armed husband to the scene.

It sounds as if her husband was confronting/containing the gunmen when the police arrived.

Police had the description of the gunmen when  they arrived, but nothing is mentioned about them being told about a second person with a gun being on scene and in contact with the gunman.

Because in the name of being fresh and hip, they hired a smug black douchebag who has already proven that for him, race comes before common sense when issues of law enforcement are discussed.

If you are an armed citizen, you had better be more afraid of the police than the bad guy. Too many times if they think someone has a gun, they shoot.
Not all of them but it only takes one dimbulb with a badge and gun to shoot you.
And you have no way of knowing which cop is a trigger happy dimbulb.

The man was clearly not a threat, he already dropped his pistol.

The LEO made a mistake, and we are glad the guy will be okay.

Hopefully there will be no long lasting effects of the shooting of the hero.

The LEO's actions should be investigated and appropriate action taken.   What kind of mistake ?   Deliberate, career ending ?  Don't know.

As for draining the department dry, that is ridiculous.   They are either self insured or have pooled insurance for this reason.

Why practice?  Shoot an innocent unarmed person.  Get a vacation, get paid, and nothing happens to you.  Business as usual.

Did the cop ND while covering the guy?

If he was compliant, dropped the gun and had his hands up the justifiable reasons to shoot him kind of diminish.

Military? I only recall two incidents in the 4 years I was on active duty USMC. One guy in MCT ran to far and cheated to the right on a live fire excercise and took a tracer from a saw in the back of the elbow. I recall another incident where two marines had their M-16’s blow up on an excercise. They didn’t keep there muzzle up in a low crawl and filled their barrels with sand, then tried to shoot.

He did.  It was in reference to the Philando Castille shooting.  He posted a subsequent video (posted here a few days ago, but I don't recall which thread) to try to crawfish, as he's obviously seen the fall in popularity his rant produced.

Destroyed 90% of his value to the NRA and gun owners in general in one stupid video proving he'd rather be treated as "a black man" rather than "a man", just to gain a little bit of virtue signalling attention.

Even as a highly successful lawyer gun owner, he couldn't escape the cultural trap of lowed expectations that he puts on himself, and all other black people. It's very sad.
