There is a difference between actually committing a crime, and being considered negligent for not knowing it was going on.

I read about that issue, and honestly don't see what I would have done different as a junior officer in charge. If had a Staff Sergeant National Guardsmen who was a career corrections officer in his civilian job, I would probably have given him as much or more authority than he had, and focused infighting higher for more land and resources to deal with the influx of detainees, not to mention the other aspects of securing and maintaining the camp. The problem was, the Staff Sergeant was a sadistic dumbass who was fucking a private and turning the place into something out of Lord of the Flies.

Heck, even if I suspected shit was going crazy, I am not sure what I could have done that wouldn't have made things worse, with the situation as it was.

Some people aren't happy unless they have an officer to blame - the higher up, the better. They are often the same ones who claim the whole military can run without officers, and things would be better if they did not pay attention to day to day activities, and let the NCOs run things.

Things that would have been just an Art. 15 with 7 days loss of pay and 7 days extra duty are elevated to General Courts Martial. This applies to the other branches too, you embarrass the Marine Corps, Navy, or Air Force like that, you are going to be crushed like an ant.

I read the whole official report findings several years ago on this case, that whole unit was ate the fuck up. The Officer, SNCO, and NCO's were horrible, the enlisted were left with no leadership however many of the enlisted should have known better than engage in such activities which why NCO's exist to corral the ones who can't think.

Nobody said she was by herself - but she acted on her own initiative. The idea she was forced to do these things is laughable. She hardly comes across as the superdisciplined "follow any order" type - quite the opposite, and the whole sordid situation itself is proof of that. It's really hard for me to worked up about the "torture" that took place, given the actions taken against westerners like Nick Berg, or Eugene Armstrong.

Nope. I don't give a fuck if they were stacked naked. I don't care if the jihadist were forced to watch her fuck multiple partners. Oh, the horror. As if the muj needed a reason to kill us anyway....

However, the lack of military discipline is unacceptable to any unit, and for that they all needed to go. Once breaches of discipline like that are commited, the Army had no choice but to make an example of her-and she got off easy IMO. She's an adult, and she knew what was right and wrong. I don't care what you are *ordered* to do-if it doesn't seem right, you can probably find someone to back your ass up when you refuse an unlawful order (if that was even the case).

She and her boyfriend went overboard. You can't "whitewash" glaring violations like they commited, especially when they had it recorded on film.

If nothing else, that whole lot needed to be discharged for the simple lack of intelect. Nobody stupid enough to keep a photographic record of such unecessary stupidity needs to be wearing the uniform anyway.

I was at Abu Ghraib prison for starters... I was in Iraq when this story broke (not at Abu G at that point), so by the time I got home the story had died down some.

Second, Google doesn't show anything specific as far as Abu Ghraib and "orgy/orgies". If what you are saying is that girl got fucked by her boyfriend that wouldn't suprise me at all. Co-ed units are a bad deal in country. Many many stories of service women doing all kinds of things.

I was at Abu Ghraib prison for starters... I was in Iraq when this story broke (not at Abu G at that point), so by the time I got home the story had died down some.

Second, Google doesn't show anything specific as far as Abu Ghraib and "orgy/orgies". If what you are saying is that girl got fucked by her boyfriend that wouldn't suprise me at all. Co-ed units are a bad deal in country. Many many stories of service women doing all kinds of things.

You ain't trying very hard to find it then... "Lynndie England sex pictures" in a serch would have got you there.

There's more than just a few things that still lead me to believe the orders came down from higher. The foremost is the presence of TWO military dog handlers.

Dog handlers were usually pretty tasked out. I doubt that two of them would just happen to leave their hooches, and go up to fuck with some detainees on their down time.
