The Punisher was good to OK for me. I think I got my hopes up when I saw it.  And I was a little let down .I did see "Man on Fire" and I liked that.  Man on fire is what the Punisher should have been, but I will go see the 2nd Punisher if there is one.

But this past Punisher is WAY better then the one from 80's.

Opinions seem divided on that, too.

The punisher was a decent movie. it had its good parts but had some pretty lame parts.

Doesnt even come close to red dawn which is ten times better.

Best Buy....just don't go to Wal-Mart...you won't get the real version of songs...

What's your favorite song, Hawkeye?  I really like "Slow Chemical"  by finger eleven...

Here is something you guys might like:

This is a fan film about the Punisher.  Its a free download, maybe 15 minutes long.  Production values are decent, but not like a 'real' Hollywood movie.  Check it out if you are a big Punisher fan.

ETA:  The Wolverine is featured in this one as well.

haven't seen it yet, but will since it was filmed here in Tampa Bay area- which was a big deal locally during the shoot

Maybe they chose this are because of Travolta's ties to the Church of Scientology which is HQ'd in Clearwater and a favorite place for him..

Does it do any justice to the area, or is that element generic?

Are Spurs and Empire still across the street from each other?

Rating the summer's "Alcoholics who flipped out"

The Punisher was cheesy.  Remove the weapons and killing and it is unwatchable.
The only quality addition to the movie were the misfits in the run-down appartment/industrial building.  Although, the chick did'nt have to "see something in him".  What kind of subtext is that when the guy just lost his ENTIRE FAMILY?
They could have left out the bad romantism with the old man's .45s.  The A-Team modified Goat was in poor taste.   One knew that all these additions were going to be cheesed-in ever since the "T-shirt" scene.

Man On Fire was a much better flick.

I'll never understand who thought it was a good idea to open a country/redneck bar across the street from a goth/industrial club.

BTT

Finally rented it and it wasn't too bad. WAAAAAAYYY better than the 1989 Dolph Lundgren version. Thomas Jane was better than I expected.

There were some elements that required suspension of disbelief... like him actually surviving the original shooting and the beating that goon took in Castle's apartment. I don't know about the thrashing his body armor took either, but I'm not ballistics expert...

Overall it was pretty good... or at least as good as I expected.

Amen... about 18 years ago when I thought it would be cool if that actually happened. Well, now that I think about it it might still be cool just because the country would finally realize a armed citizenry would be important.

I wouldn't really compare these two movies though...
