PS
When i worked for a fortune 500 company one of my co-managers happened to see a picture of me in full LEO uniform--of course inluding gun and all the accoutremonts.

Than she told upper management that i was coming on to her (she was probably pissed because
I was not)

When middle management told me i ran to the director of operations to say what bs it was.

He asked me if i owned guns?
I responded that i came from 3 generations of LEO's...Figure it out for yourself.

Come to find out he came from 3 gen of LEO's in NYC and we were instantly best friends.

Well, I am having a bunch of other issues with management at this bullshit company, guns being the least of them

The same one that warned me not to talk about guns at work is the same one that jokes about me being 'in love' and having 'a crush' on another male coworkers; which is the biggest crock of shit. He is just one of the few people I work with that aren't assholes, so we bullshit a lot. Plus, I have seen and played with more pussy than my manager has, and she has one.

Secondly, this fucking manager just recently hired one of my co-worker's brothers for a management position, even though that would mean a co-worker of mine has a sibling as a superior, not to mention many people, who actually have experience, were passed over for this promotion. This isn't like the sibling is going to go in another department or anything; nope, it's going to be directly over its sibling. Isn't there some sort of rules against shit like that?

No to mention, management (both females) talk about their sex life all of the time in quite graphic detail. Now, normally, I wouldnt mind hearing some of that, but they are two disgusting chicks.

one of them looks boy george after he escaped a failed attempt to make fois gras from his liver.

Sounds like they are waiting for a chance to break you down and fire you. Beat them to it and get them for sexual harassment. Go to Best buy and get a audio recorder. Sony makes the best ones.
They have a nice one for about $50. Once you get what you need, turn them in and then you will be off limits. It works for the blacks here in Alabama

edited to add:
the sony recorder you need is a digital recorder. You can  copy the recording onto a computer and make a cd. Be sure you have enough for a court battle. Do not half ass it.

foie gras is duck liver after, essentially, the duck is caged so that it can't move and is fed very fattening foods (traditionally it is force-fed truffels) until the liver gets larger than a baseball.

Thank God California has banned the produciton of it.

I'd get your resume up to date.

That is sexual harassement there in itself.  Start saying, "I don't appreciate such comments." the next time he pops off about the alleged 'in love' krap to build your sexual harassement case against him.  And log it.

Trust me........do not do it. You WILL be labeled as someone "dangerous" by the liberals at work. HR will probably be FORCED to do something about it if you continue unless you are a model employee in everyother way - even then do not count on it.

Remember, there is no law protecting you in regards to "talking about guns" in a private company. They can get rid of you if they want to (if it is an "at will" employment state).

Trust me.............I am a Human Resources Manager and a gun collector.

I work for a video game company.  Kindof shocks people when  they see I'm I'm using photos of my own collection as reference for the guns I build for the game. I get a lot of the "don't make him mad" comments. The other day someone accidentally dialed 911 while trying to dial out of the office. Our secretary asked us all to check on everyone else to make sure it was indeed just an accident. My project manager checked by my office and joked that he came to make sure I didn't bring a duffle bag with me to work, I told him it was in my car.  It's all in good fun. I've never felt it was antagonistic. I get a hoot watching the other game designers talking about which guns to include and how they should work when they themselves have never handled one in real life. The sound guys even had me critique the gun sounds. I apologize in advance for some of the weapons portrayed in this game. Even though I objected to the gang bangers possessing, let alone firing while on the run, a barret light .50, the head guys said it just looked too cool to omitt.  Though I did animate the gang bangers holding some of the guns in true asshat alqaeda style. I almost slipped in some homeboy nite sights.

Holy crap. You and I must be the only 2 people on these boards that make games.

I'm one of the only 2 people at my company that are "gun nuts". I never hide my hobby. I've taken a couple of people from work shooting withe me Sadly, it was just for fun. They never bought a gun after that but I tried. I've used my knowledge to improve our product (no one else there knows as much about modern military small arms as I do). I've gotten into a few "interesting" discussions with fellow employees over gun control but nothing negative ever came from them.

Regardless, we do have a decent number of liberals (a few a border line socialists). Some of them have actually been hunting before even. Folks joke about my hobby ("IF S ever HTF, I'm coming to your house." (yeah, right)) but, all in all, it's cool.

since recieving BRD i have talked with guys at work about my AR build and shooting in general.  I have been labeled a sociopath by a few of them, but for the most part everyone that knows i'm a gun nut is fine with it.  A couple guys came in yesterday and were laughing their ass off and told me they liked the bumper sticker on my truck.. "keep honking i'm still reloading".  I started laughing because i don't own a truck and don't put any bumper stickers on my vehicles.

Where I work its required, my boss has been shooting highpower for many, many years.  I can look around the office and find gun parts, magazines "the reading kind", sometimes the other kind, and various other things.

Behind our office they built a 600 yard range with two targets and pits, so as I said before its required.

Both these cases are sexual harrasment. Ask them to stop. When they don't, sue the company.

- or -

Go to HR. Complain about the sexual harrasment and hostile workplace. Managers will get a talking-to and probably a nice "tolerence" seminar. After they fire you for complaining, sue for discriminatory termination.

I am the Dog, car and gun guy at my firm.

I think alot has to do with how you conduct yourself around others. I like to think my coworkers trust me enough to not worry about what I do on my off time.

I shoot competitively IPSC and  a little IPDA. I have a couple of 2nd place plaques hanging on my office wall from Blackwater IPSC matches.
My computer desktop background is a pic of me on a rifle stage at the Virginia Black rifle day shooting around a barricade.

When the Blackwater contractors were murdered in Iraq last year I sold raffle tickets in the office for a new M4 that our club raffled off to help the families of the dead.
After seeing what the raffle was for my boss did say he was he thought guns were bad. In his next breath he then gave me $20.00 to add to the Family fund. He said keep the ticket, if its important to me he wanted to help.
I am the care package guy for the deployed servicemen. If you bring it in I get it out.

Is it a smart thing ? NO its not, but like some poster here have pointed out in the past I odnt always do the smart thing.

I'm surprised by the number of people who are yelling "SUE" - even though when it comes to other people suing, we all whine about how litigious society is becoming.  The reality is that Poink has a couple of managers who are assholes, and who occasionally make the off-color joke.  Sue?  Talk about overreacting in a whiny and spiteful way.   I thought that was more of a DU reaction.

I'm amazed at how many "men" at arfcom want to solve this problem by running to a lawyer (or jugde) and saying "those women are mean to me, and they sometime call me names that make me feel bad.  Waaaaaaah"

Also, as far as I can tell, what poink describes in NOT "sexual harassment" but MIGHT be "hostile work environment" (as Dracster mentioned).  Sheesh - I'm not even a lawyer, and I know the difference.  It would be nice of the people yelling "SUE" actually knew what they were talking about when they are dispensing legal advice.

If it truly is more than an annoyance, I AGREE that poink should absolutely talk to his HR department or his manager's boss - but depending on the laws in his state, he should accept that he will be on the top of the list of candidates for the next downsizing, and his performance will be under the microscope.

If this is really more about whining about not being allowed to talk about guns at work, then he is probably out of luck.
