I thought that the shootout between the G-men and the Italians at the end of Enemy of the State was good.
I also liked the scene from the Matrix when Keanu Reeves shoots the mini-gun out the door of the Huey. |
Hard Boiled- almost the entire movie is a shootout.
The gun scene in The Horse Whisperer was pretty good too. |
favorites: heat, saving private ryan
least favorite: the rock, shower scene. theres just something that pains me about watching a team of SEALs die. |
I agree with AAA that posted earlier about UNFORGIVEN, also PRIVATE RYAN.
How about Desparado? I know it isn't the most realistic, but those gunfights were coreographed great...lots o' style (even though he was carrying Rugers)
Charles Bronson and Henry Fonda in "Once Upon a Time in the West".
Damned if I can remember the name of the movie.... "Wrath of god, you have a target"
And a Barret light .50 takes out the BG behind the wall. |
I think that the final scenes from "Ride the High Country" were among the finest. Randolph Scott & Joel MacCrea in the twilight of their
careers. How about Gary Cooper in "High Noon?" John |
If you havent seen "Boondock Saints" go rent it. LOTS of gunplay, very cool movie.
Also HEAT, Way of the Gun Reverend73 |
Hardboiled: warehouse
Saving Private Ryan: taking the beach Robocop: coke factory |
I always liked Born On The Fourth Of July. What it lacked in sheer firepower, it was well shot, showing the state of confusion and panic in a real shootout. When Tom Cruise,(Kovak) gets shot in the foot, and continues to return fire with his M-14, then his rifle jams, tries to clear it , yelling and swearing all the while- pretty convincing. The only fake part was the lack of recoil and muzzle climb.
Saving Private Ryan. Apocalypse Now. I guess these were more battle scenes, but classic none the less. |
If you want to see a 1 1/2 hour-long shootout, "Mean Guns" is OK. Not realistic for sh*t, but they throw a BUNCH of lead in that one........
Way of the Gun was my favorite with Heat in a close second for realistic
For non-realistic I liked Matrix and Aliens. Also, no one has mentioned Supercop with Jackie Chan. At one point he fires an AR with a beta mag and switches it out. Pretty cool. |
Rules of Engagement:
When they were on the roof top and Samuel Jackson says "waste the mother fuckers!" True Romance: The ending shootout. Wasn't the best but why repeat what everyone else is posting. Big Trouble in Little China: The gun fight between the two Chinese gangs. Makes me laugh!!!!! |
Heat,Ronin,The Replacement Killers.Not in any peticular order.SJR556.

I have to cast a vote for Boondock Saints. Awesome movie
I also love the shootout scene in CARLITO'S WAY, when he's stuck in the bathroom with no ammo. |
My favorite one was the made-for-TV smear job about the Waco incident. It's the scene where the JBT rushes the front door and is immediately shot down. I laughed me arse off.

I think everyone forgot the best one:
LAST MAN STANDING with Bruce Willis |
Opening club scene of The Replacement Killers, Chow just has that f**k it look in his eye.
I think the proper question is:
"In what movie is your 2nd favorite shoot-out scene, given that Heat is clearly 1st?" My answer is: Chow Yun-Fat, but I'm not sure if the movie is Replacement Killers or Hard Boiled. The Matrix's lobby scene could be up there if they didn't have .223 brass ejecting from a .32ACP subgun and a rubber-duck AR15 being dropped on the ground. -Troy |
not really a a shoot out scene per sa but in pulp fiction where the guys AD blows the black guy away and there like ah manu messed up my car i so saw that coming a mile away
I would say "The Wild Bunch" too. The final shootout has to be the mother of all gun battles. And the nekkid Mexican girls are nice too.
The Cyberdyne battle scene in Terminator 2, even if I couldn't figure out how they got power for the M134 minigun...
A couple that no one has mentioned
"Quigly Down Under" Why go to a gun fight when you can shoot them from 500 yards and "I said I didn't like pistols, I didn't say I couldn't use one" 5TH Element "Anyone else want to negotiate?" |
here are my faves in no order:
Tombstone Aliens Tremors Dick Tracy(tommy guns--ahhh!) Untouchables Private Ryan Pearl Harbor(i know, i know, but good shooting) Predator Terminator T2 Matrix any John Wayne any Eastwood Enemy at the Gates.... AND ALL THE LIVING DEAD MOVIES!!!!!!!!!!!!! ZOMBIE F'ING WAAAARRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [HEAVY] |

Here are my favorites, not that it matters, but here it is anyhoo:
1.) Scarface -Tony Montana's last stand with his weapons at his mansion. Gotta love that grenade launcher on his "little friend" the AR rifle. 2.) Last Man Standing -Lots of shooting and dead bodies defying laws of gravity everywhere. 3.) The Rock -Navy Seals in the shower room. No, you sickos! Not a scene where Navy Seals are taking a shower, but engaging in a gun battle with the marines in the shower room. Stop grinning with vivid erotic thoughts, Miss Magnum! Miss Magnum: Ahhhhhhh...naked Navy Seals in the shower.(drool) [:I] 4.) Aliens -The Colonial Marines in the fire fight with the aliens was real awesome. Ha Ha Hudson with his, "Game over, man. Game over!" line or something like that. 5.) And last but not least, The Matrix. Loved the entire movie in regards to the shoot scenes. I'd bet sales on Desert Eagles went up due to the movie. It always did with the .44 magmun revolver when the movie Dirty Harry played. Also, the sales on any red and blue pills probably went up too. Anybody see Harlem Nights w/Eddie Murphy???
Hilarious movie w/a hilarious scene where Arsenio Hall and a couple of other "gangsters" are blazing away with Tommy guns at Eddie who is behind cover. After what seems like many drums from the Tommy's, Eddie raises his m1911 up without looking and kills all 3. Seems like no one has seen this movie but I highly recommend it!! ~nut |

Come on you guys, most of the picks were, are good. But you all missed one of the best. John Cusack in GROSS POINT BLANK. If any of you have not seen it you need to rent it. Also they got hilarious but Leathal Weapon and Die hard did as much for Berettas popularity at the time as the U.S. Army did.
Another good scene was in Air Force One when the Russian terrorists seize the plane. Excellent weapons, too (SIG P226, M4, MP5).
My faves are: The Professional, Heat, Last Man Standing, True Romance, and many others I can't remember at the moment [;)]
Quoted: I think everyone forgot the best one: LAST MAN STANDING with Bruce Willis View Quote This is a rip off of a Clint Eastwood movie I think it was a few dollars more or a fist full of dollars. |
..heat..
Gross Pointe Blank!!!!! "hold on a minute, I'm working" Saving Private Ryan Beach landing, holy crap... Intense |
What I most like about HEAT is the way Val Kilmer works the trigger. He's firing short bursts instead of spraying. Way cool!!!
What about the insertion team shootout from G.I. JANE? Okay, so the best part was Demi Moore not owning a bra. But the shootout was okay too. RULES OF ENGAGMENT was breath-taking through out. |
I've seen alot of great shootouts mentioned but I'm afraid I have the no.1 all time greatest shootout in the history of motion pictures. And the winner is.....TRUE GRIT starring John Wayne.
Remember the Duke astride his horse in that high mountain meadow facing off Robert Duvall and his gang. (Duvall) "Thats pretty bold talk for a one eyed fat man". (Duke) "Fill your hand you son of a bitch!" And the fight is on, the Duke with the reins in his teeth, a Colt Peacemaker in his right hand and a Winchester loop lever carbine in his left. He whirls and fires that Winchester and blazes away with that Colt! Hot damn! if that aint the best shoot out ever I'll kiss your ass on the Pitchers mound at Yankee Stadium on a saturday afternoon! |
The Rock
The Replacement Killers Heat Commando Navy Seals Face Off Terminator Series Predator Dogs Of War Sniper |
1) Cross of Iron "Meyer's Counterattack""Factory Fight"
2) Pat Garret & Billy The Kid "Rustlers' Cabin" 3) Last Scene in "The Wild Bunch""Opening Slaughter" |
Quoted: Ghost in the shell when she blows up the guys body, Also Kite when she used the exploding bullets and shots the guy in the head on the elevator. View Quote I'll double that, and please dont forget Gunsmithcats. one of the only cartoons with realistic gunfights where animated characters actually get shot, stabbed, and ATF agents flicked off. The manga is cool too, plus the added bonus of some gun, and car info [;)] Rally's husband lib |

Last Man Standing,
even though it was Bruce Willis The Good The Bad and The UGLY Clint always has a good shooting scene or two! |
